FYI , management has already said he will be over here after the SEL final and there is a chance that he would depending on how the series is going. |

I don't really care if he plays or not. If he does play, just don't put the weight of the world on his shoulders. The NHL playoffs is way different then the SEL playoffs. |

Gotta say I'm loving Sens hockey right now. They deserved that win last night, just ran into a red hot Lundquist.. They are playing with all heart. Reminded me of the Oilers in 06 or the Flames in 04. I think they'll pull this one out in seven. |

As mentioned, due to his age the year is already burned whether he plays or not.
Now, whether he'd even be able to have a meaningful impact is another matter. Beyond the fact that it'd be his first NHL game in a new system, I personally have difficultly imagining he'd be in the right headspace for it. Asking him to jump into the middle of an intense series 1 or 2 days after pushing his team to a SEL title, I feel like the kid will need a break.
That said, crazier things have happened, I guess. Sens might be desperate by then. - sutterfamily
Why do you have a picture of Daryl Sutter as your avatar? Huge fan of him or what? |

if that's the case, why the hell did murray let him go back to sweden, without even having him in camp. makes no sense - sensarmy_11
Because it was awesome for his development, obviously. He went from middle of the pack prospect to being the best player in Sweden, and is likely very happy with sens management for letting him do so - never undervalue a good player-management relationship.
That's what lets you hold onto players for years at a fair cost, not just 3 on an ELC. |

i'm not saying that going back to sweden was the problem, but if it's gonna burn a year of eligibility, why not AT LEAST bring him over for training camp. i mean it all worked out in hindsight, i'm just trying to understand the initial reasoning. |

Silfverberg said he wanted to go back and play in Sweden. I'm sure it was in the interests of having a good relationship with him. If the player himself didn't think he was ready to leave his home country then it doesn't make sense to try and force his hand. |

The season in sweden began even before training camp for NHL teams. He was here for the rookie camp. It had already been decided that he was going back to sweden for the season, so to make him miss the beginning of the season over there just to attend training camp didn't make any sense. |

If it doesn't put the organization at a disadvantage in terms of his contract then he should play.
Anyone who says Ottawa doesn't have a shot at winning the cup is blinded. Ottawa has outplayed the best team in the East for 2 out of the three games and is right in it to win it regardless of the 1-0 loss. At this point every team still has a chance to win it, Pitt and Vancouver to a lesser extent.

They do but Silfverberg was signed to his ELC and then lent back to Brynas in the SEL so this year counts as burning a year, so there is nothing to lose by putting him in there |

I cant wait for Silfverberg. Been following the guy for about 2 years now.
I wonder how many people went 'damn' when they read this article and are just hearing about him for the first time |

This was the main reason why I questions his commitment to the NHL. He knew Murray wanted him here for at least training camp and pre season (and probably would have got a spot on the roster easily) but he chose Sweden. I just found it odd that after your GM says you are NHL ready but you choose to play in an inferior league. Maybe he is just mature for his age, and recognizes his owns weaknesses, but most kids would jump at the opportunity to play in the NHL.
However, from what I have heard, after his season is done, he'll do what Murray and the gang tell him to do pretty much (play in the Worlds or playoffs). So it's probably a non issue. |

Ottawa has every opportunity to come back in this series. But any extra options on offence wouldn't go astray. I'm very disappointed in Spezza and Michalek so far. I know Spezza played decent last night, but you know your in trouble when him and Michalek are being outplayed by Foligno and even Butler, who came in last night and showed more effort than both of them combined.
- Cooperall
Keep in mind that Spezza and Michalek are playing against the Rags top defensive pairing and checking unit, I would hope that the 2nd line would elevate their play to pick up the slack.
Spezza needs to stop trying to do everything himself, he needs to start making the simple plays rather then turning the puck over so much... - Nimm
EXACTLY! there's a reason Foligno and Winchester have room, the Rags know they can give it to them and they won't do anything with it. Give Spezza a crack and he'll score or set one up. The same 4 players hit the ice everytime he gets on there, plus whatever forward Fonzarelli wants out there with them. It was almost comical watching two blueshirts sitting on Spezza while Karlsson/Kuba/Gonchar kept trying to forcefeed him the puck. We need more threats to score with Alfy sidelined so Silferberg is fine by me. Michalek is a shooter but couldn't carry the puck in a bucket. He's very similar to Heatley in that regard and we need someone to help take the load off Spezza. |

From my understanding, he made a commitment to his team last year to play one more year before moving to try his hand at the NHL. In order to play in Sweden, the timing was wrong for him to play there, focus there, and also come to Sens training camp. The Sens brass doesn't seem to have an issue with it, there is no real friction between the two sides.
To me, I actually appreciate a guy who commits and doesn't jump ship for his own personal reasons, or because he was pressured to do so. Perhaps that loyalty to his Swedish team will translate to loyalty with the Sens based on how we, as an organization, allowed him to do what he felt was right for him. |

Ya. Looking at it now, I really don't find it as big deal. However, during training camp, it kinda seemed like he just gave the Sens the finger. It seemed odd to have your commitment to another inferior league when you can play in the top one in the world. That was just my interpretation. Zibby was in a similar spot, but he participated in training camp, etc. If he pulls what Sifliverberg (still can't get his name right) did next season, I am sure people would feel the same way as I did, since he is such a highly touted prospect. But I doubt that happens. |

Close. He and his agent wanted an assurance from Murray that he would not be put in the AHL. Murray could not give that guarantee obviously, so he asked if he could return to his team in the SEL to finish what he started. It was amicable (or at least presented as such by both sides) but do we ever know for sure? My only concern, remember the Youtube videos of Regin flying around before he joined and well .... lets just say he wasn't that guy over here. Like everything else boys, cautious optimism. |

Well, outside of maybe Pascal Leclaire and this kid named Scott I knew in High School, I don't think there is anyone in the world who would fail a bone density test worse than Peter Regin. |

Silverberg just scored to put his team up 2-1.. He now tied the SEL record for most goals in the playoffs with ironically Daniel Alfredsson |
