I'm not speaking of internet message board fans. I'm speaking to all the ignornant, inpatient fans/media, who chirp the crap out of kids in their 20s because they lose 6 more games then they should have which puts them out of the playoffs and all hell breaks loose.
Do you think it's a coincidence that Randy said pubically, "what's wrong with Beauchiman when he returned to the Ducks? Or this team has absolutely Zero confidence. " Or Burke said "the guys started to play bad around the trade deadline or they started to play like crap when it mattered most."
IMO - Unless you're a superstar and your talent is top notch you can't survive in this market. Because confidence is key to success at this level. A Toronto Team with average talent will not suceed like pretty much ever other market. Because the players confidence is not ripped out of them like it is in Toronto. This team needs atleast 6 guys of high end talent to suceed then everyone would feed off of it. Just having one guy is not going to work. |

yes.. and while i understand this argument they get paid to deal with it..
if they cant handle this market they need to move on.. you dont need to be a superstar to be confident in your abilities...
the media excuse is a tired one.. man up and deal with it or move onto another market so management can bring in a guy who can
i just have a hard time believing that these guys sit around sulking about whats in the media.. to me i think the main problem has been coaching.. and carlyle needs to right the ship.. wilson was too obtuse and had a bad habit of naming guys in the scrums.. and that IS something that will effect a player.. the coach's opinion of them means a ton. |

I have been thinking along the same lines for a while... there has to be other factors at work when it comes to Toronto..Fans, media other teams fans all ripping on the leafs, it never really stops.
It just getting worse as the years pile on of no cups, not finals appearances, no playoff appearances, and this season one of the biggest collapses in history I dont know what other low we can hit, but I am sure we will find it.

it goes both ways too...when they suck, the fans let them know it. When theyre playing good, the fans let them know it... |

What about the other 19 coaches who have failed to get the leafs to the cup finals.
I doubt the players sulk, but if someone came into your work and started telling you how terrible you are, and the newspaper said how terrible you are... eventually it will have an effect on you.
We can move out players, bring in new ones... but eventually it all ends up the same..

what about them?
i mean seriously....man up.. i got contractors who call and female dog me out all the time.. i just bear down, let them get it out of their system and then go back to work.. i know what i can do.. i dont need someone else telling me how good i am.. and i'm also not going to let their opinion of me get under my skin
these guys are pros and paid very well to deal with the exact type of pressure you are talking about.. i will never give creed to this analogy.. not ever.. its an excuse.. and weak people make excuses.. strong people own up and go back to work. |

From regular speed, it looked like a perfectly clean hit.
The games to fast, and I don't blame the refs for missing it. And when I say it, I mean him leaving his feet.
from replays, it's definitely dirty. - jbold
Guess the speed also made them miss the lateness, interference, etc.
No excuse. Should have been a penalty. And Torres has an extensive history of this garbage. |

Is there any difference between Torres hit and James Neal's hit on Sean Couturier on Sunday? First, both of these guys are considered repeat offenders. Neal's hit was even later than Torres', they both left their feet and hit an unsuspecting player with their shoulder. Main point of contact was chest on both and the only difference was that Hossa smacked his head hard on the ice and obviously sustained an injury. If Shanahan did not suspend Neal for his hit, how can he suspend Torres for this hit? |
