oh please.
He simply wasn't good when he was here.
If he'd of stayed, he'd be making 5 million and you'd be cursing that he's overpaid. - Fakepartofme
yeah, there's no way to say any former leaf would have ever turned it around and bee good for Toronto. A change of scenery is usually the reason a player starts to thrive. Plus a different system, and less spotlight can do wonders.
Versteeg however I thought WAS playing well. He was on his usual pace for us. But people wanted him to be a top 6 guy, which he couldn't handle here...but even on the 3rd line and being bounced around all over the place he was still on pace to hit 20 goals in Toronto. |

Does make me wonder though..if he had accepted a trade and the players coming back sucked balls, would Leafs nation have then found a way to blame him for that and rage about his lack of loyalty? - GuyLaDouche
honestly...our fans seemingly find just about any reason to complain, so yes...likely.
But all things considered, the year before he left he could have fetched a decent little package to a contending team. There wasnt much doubt about that, im sure. |

Absolutely. It's sad but a large fanbase would have done just that. Keep in mind his contract was up and would have only been a rental, so there wouldn't have been a huge return I wouldn't think. So the quality we would have gotten back would have been questionable. And in that case, yes, many fans would have the same "anti-Sundin" feelings for the exact opposite reason. |

It's been a crazy playoffs for sure. I haven't watched much, but the highlights have been insane.
I mean, Nashville being up 3-1 on Detroit, LA up 3-0 on Vancouver, PHI up 3-0 on PIT, PHX up 2-1 on Chicago...it's madness |

Hear you. Edmonton is similar just on a smaller scale. People forget that we positively oozed satisfaction when the Oilers swept the Gretzky led Kings in 91, and cheered every cheap shot Tikkanen gave him. |

I picked Nashville, LA, and PHX , but I also picked Pitts - JIMI-JAMES
I'm poopting the bed on my picks
I picked:
Ottawa over NYR (Ottawa won the season series, but has some good experience)
Washington over Boston (WSH won the season series & defending champs usually lose out in round 1)
NJ over Florida (I thought Florida was too goo to be true and would choke)
PIT over PHI (the way they played without Sid was crazy,s o with Sid I thought they would be in the finals)
VAN over LA (I thought they'd make another long run)
St. Louis over SJ (I just don't like SJ and STL is way under rated)
Phoenix over Chicago (never been a CHI fan, and was hoping PHX could upset)
Detroit over NSH (Detroit is just always good)
So far, only STL and PHX have been correct |

Oh really? I guess so, but it's not like Gretz had a choice in the matter. There wasn't NTC/NMC back then, and he REALLY didn't want to leave |

Just pointing certain things out. Fans will ultimately be loyal to the team, even with regards to the greatest player that ever played. Plus, we were all a little bitter watching the LA numpties cheer lime idiots when Gretz broke Howes record. Honestly, that stings to this day. It should have happened in Oilers silks. Just wrong. Lot of speculation that his, cough, "actress" wife had a lot to do with it. |

There was a documentary about the whole ordeal... guess he was given the option before the trade went down to call it off.
