Too bad , I like that guy , round up the dirt bags , get rid of them

Yeah, at least he's trying. There's parks and monuments in the southern part of the state you can't visit anymore it's so unsafe. But that's another topic for another time.

Remember the Keith on Sedin elbow? It was WAY worse than this and it only got Keith 5 regular season games.

I guess I work in Cook County , Illinois, this is a safe haven for scumbags, terrorists , felons, and illegals, mfer's get convicted of Murder and get out in 5 years for "good behavior" or get out early and put on supervision , terrible.

All very great arguments. Thanks for sharing.
I'm terrific. How many years you think Torres should be banned for? Or should he be banned forever?

Here in AZ it's costing us $Millions to incarcerate illegal aliens convicted of crimes here. Deport them, hell, they're back in a week.

I don't know if the answer is getting rid of the instigator rule. The only thing that I believe can really change the mindset is severe and harsh penalties to the player and the team. No more of these 3-8 game suspensions. I'm thinking 20-25 games as well as fines that range from over 10 for players to over 100k for teams. It's time to hit these guys where they are most effected, their wallets.

The system that they have in place now is obviously not working. It doesn't help that the players are confused as to what is a dirty hit and what isnt. Look at Torres and Neal. Torres's hit on Seabrook was considered dirty by most media and fans, but the league deemed it clean. So according to the league a full speed headshot is okay. Neal left his feet and hit a guy who had nothing to do with the puck. Either charging or interference, no call on the ice and no suspension. The players have no idea of a consistant standard which they can play by.

As much as it is a respect factor from player to player, it's an inconsistancy and incoherent factor with the league.

Of course, Hossa's in the hospital so that probably means an extra couple of games. Ridiculous that if a guy is hurt has any bearing on the decision IMO.

nice post....Neal didn't get a game for his run and jump into Flyer player....

Given the mind boggling ad hoc decisions coming from Shammyhan...I am prepared for the Shea Weber special of $2500....have a nice day.

The league has made a complete mockery of itself from top to bottom.

Shanaban better send a statement to Torres like Campbell did to Cooke. Suspend Torres indefinitely pending the outcome of round 1.

If Coyotes move on to Round 2, and are eliminated in Round 2, suspend Torres for Round 2 + 10 reg season games.

If Coyotes move on to Round 2 and end up in conference or even cup finals, suspend for rest of playoffs.

If Hawks win the series, suspend Torres for 20 reg season games.

Enough is enough.

Does Neal's suspension today do anything to indicate that Torres will get the remainder of the playoffs?
- whosyodaddy

You forget Shanny is basing his decisions on injuries not intent. And with Hossa's injury, he'll make an example out of Torres.

But shaw just got 3 postseasons games for touching smith as a first time offender. So thats what 15 regular season games. This when Lucic got ZERO regular season games for his hit on miller concussing him .

You simply cant use precedent with this regime. Since almost every decision is clouded by controversy.

I think if Asham just got 4 and shaw got 3 then torres 5. But if Shanahan really wants to start leveraging control go 7 or 8. I just used precedent didnt I? Nobody knows with the "department of player safety"

Coyotes see no evil and take the 5th...but Smith did notice Hossa being cartted off.

http://espn.go.com/chicag...owing-violent-culture-nhl

You have to wonder if that was Vrbata or Doan being destroyed that they would have their 20/20 vision in sharp focus and Tippett would not have to go check the video. Just wondering. Such is the NHL culture today.

I hope Torres decides to go out for dinner somewhere tonight in the city, I wouldn't doubt he gets shot.

What Shaw did to Smith was way worse than what Torres did to Hossa. Torres is a rugged player who uses his hitting power because he has it and the Canucks sure miss him. However he will probably get 2 to 3 games because of his reputation. This is playoff hockey and hockey . Keith got 5 games and his smashing of Daniel Sedin's head was much worse and intent to injure Sedin was obvious. Torres just finished his check like always. I would always want Torres on my team rather than play against him because he hits as hard as anyone in hockey and the last time I checked hitting is still in the game.

You are totally wrong, Shaw,s hit on Smith was wicked and very dangerous. Smith is very lucky he was not concussed again. I rate Shaw's hit worse than Torres. Hawk fans are blind thinking Keith's hit on Sedin was okay. Karma baby

It was right there when Shanahan lost his credibility within the league. No one cares. It's now a horrible balance of risk and reward.... if Torres gets 4 games, but Hossa is out for the series... who wins?

I heard a great solution to this weeks ago and wish someone at the NHL took notice.... What you do is cost out any players suspension.... and add that to the cap space of the victim team the following year and reduce the offending team by the same ratio.... then finally the victimized team would truly get something and the perpetrator team would lose out.... I mean, honestly..... did Chicago suffer even a little bit for Keith's 5 games suspension?

No. And the Canucks gained nothing.

***************
Except maybe the hockey Gods will need to only give this less than 5 games of be seen as too inconsistent if Keith was only worth 5.

***************
How Torres was allowed to finish the game, ala Keith, is mindnumbing.

Hawks have several players who would love to have Raffe Torres hitting talent. The guy is a beast and if hitting is allowed I want him on my team. I hope Hossa is okay but he has to learn to keep his head up and stop admiring his passes. You gotta learn to know who is on the ice and when Raffe is on pay attention. It is that simple.
