I don't really get all this Sidney bashing. Bobby Clarke did a lot of the same type of dirty things and let his teammates step in to protect him and he's a folk hero in Philly. - Dkos
Glad to see so many of you (frankly just about everyone who I expected would) being embarrassed by that inane cover. That goes well beyond the pale of of an entity holding itself out as conveying journalism. Crosby is understandably never going to be well liked in Philly, but this stuff just reeks of amateur hour crap.
Anyways, I'll keep this short. The Flyers have earned everything they've gotten to get to this point, and for what its worth, while I don't plan on rehashing every moment of Sunday, I was embarrassed by what took place from a Penguins perspective. I found the amount of strident vitriol it generated from some here and on Flyers fans inundating our board to be somewhat amusing considering its the same kind of mayhem Flyers teams have been pulling for their entire existence. When your team markets itself with the Bullies persona, you are what you are and one series worth of being the more disciplined, composed team doesn't change that. Not saying there was no right to be angry about what the Pens did, I just found it amusing for the shoe to be on the other foot of this REALLY bizarre series. Just my $.02.
But to be clear, that didn't make what the Pens did any less distasteful from my perspective and I have no issue with the suspensions that we assessed.
I have no idea how tonight will play out tonight, but the Pens just looked too out of sorts to me on Sunday for me to be hopeful that they are capable of turning things around tonight. The Flyers are in their heads, and kudos to them. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding out much hope. |

Edit: he's also been on the ice for as many goals against the team. SO really his contribution is breaking even in my book. - JoeRussomanno
Pittsburgh has scored 12 goals in the Series. Briere has been on the ice for 3 goals against. Briere has been on the ice for 6 goals for the Flyers. So it seems it's not even close to breaking even.

I have a horrible feeling about tonight. For some reason I have a feeling the Flyers are going to get throttled.
First and foremost I want to see a strong defensive game from forwards and D and a strong performace out of Bryz.
One has to expect Fluery to bounce back as well as Pitt's star players w/their backs against the wall.
I hope I'm wrong! - flyguy12

That would be incriminating, if it was true.
Briere has been on the ice for 4 Pittsburgh goals. He's been on for 6 Flyers goals. Players do not get a + if they are on the ice when their team has scored a powerplay goal. |

Yes I know there's four other players but he's a liability defensively. For all the goals he scores in the playoffs he's still a negative in plus minus, there is a reason for that. It's not like he is out there to check the other team's top lines. As for history you need look no further than last year against Boston. You guys are overlooking that but I'm not. Jvr had a big series against them. He did so because he's the type of forward you need against teams like that. Teams like that are the teams you need to beat to win the cup. Briere I don't feel is going to be as effective against those teams and his lack of defensive game will make him a liability. - JoeRussomanno
JVR had three points in the Boston series. Briere had two. Not a large discrepancy there. |

It's not funny, it's poorly done and the worst part is, when Seravalli tweeted it last night he seemed proud of it, until he got buried by negative tweets saying it was stupid. - Jsaquella
I knew I should have gotten on twitter last night.

Nobody is overlooking anything. I'm looking at Briere's entire body of work in the playoffs. Not just picking one Series because it fits what I want to think. |

allright way off topic, but there's a lot of guys in this room whose opinions i respect, including some of those i debate with.....
my next door neighbor works on my car. he charged me 610 dollars in feb for repairs to my car. he never did them and now insists i have to pay him about the same amount for the same repairs. i trusted him a lot so when he asked me for money i just handed it over without complaint. but he tried jabbing me again on price, so i got pissed and i looked through my texts and there it was the 610 dollars i gave him went to repairs that still are not done and he insists i have to pay him that money. basically the way i see it, he owes me 670 dollars. or the equivelent in repairs.
how should i break this to him? should i be prepared to protect myself? i think he's picked up a habit as well. |

I know they don't get a + for PP goals. He's been out there for goals but is only credited for one assist. Really he also was given a gift in game one. SO if anything the differential is one but I'll settle for 2. However you have a player that can back check with a little less offensive power and it would be better just because you're giving up less goals. Furthermore he's playing a team that has totally abandoned the defensive side. So like I said earlier, when he comes accross a more defensive opponent, that's when we're gonna see if he's breaking even or not. |

That series isn't what I want to think, it's making me think, there's a difference. Let's see what happens though. I just think right now he's benefiting form Pittsburghs negligence more than anything. |
