Same idea as to why the Flyers don't want Giroux going up against Staal. You want to put your best players in the best position to succeed.

Giroux is not a checking center but the point is that the "best player in the world" should be able to succeed against anybody. The Flyers have their checking center going against Malkin so that leaves Giroux, Briere/Schenn or Read, which presents no physical mismatches for Crosby. While Crosby is a great player, the hype is ridiculous.

i used to listen to his show too. i couldn't take the unadulterated flyers/ hockey hatred. i think it's a company line, espn hates hockey. they tried to kill the sport after it went to OLN/VS/NBCSports

While Timmonen is important to the Flyers, Letang is more important to the Pens. His leaving the game had a huge impact on the Pens. He is their most valuable player.

i disagree, i think kimmo does so many unsung things and plays way better defense, not to mention he's the qb on our top pp unit

but i also recongnize that the flyers are way deeper defensively. heck our 8th and 9th dmen are as good as their 4th and 5th

Yea, and there is no way he would let Carle check him off the play on Neal's first goal...

gotta admit, the briere line scares me at even strength tonight. after playing to a draw in game one, they have been out-chanced big time at 5-on-5 since. on sunday, they were outshot 10-1, however, bryz stopped all 10 and danny obviously scored on their one shot. luck like that runs out at some point. hopefully not until like next october or so, but they need to find a way to limit the opposition's chances tonight.

I agree 100%. Last night me and a couple of teammates went to the bar that sponsors us.. and I said it there. Dannys line is our weakest line. They are super explosive.. but they also leave the d and bryz out to dry. You play with fire enough and you will end up getting burned.

kimmo is like eric desjardins. letang is like mike green. i'd take desjardins (in his prime) over green every day of the week and twice on sundays. he may not show up as much with flashy stuff, but that's not kimmo's game.

Id take Letang any day of the week over all of the guys you are talking about. He is much much better defensively than Green.

while we're on the subject. i think letang should have been suspended for the way he conducted himself just before and especially during his fight with kimmo

you don't punch a guy whose on the ground, you don't punch a guy with his jersey over his head. that's bush league.

and he should have gotten an instigator penalty. kimmo was wrestling with crybaby and letang came up from behind kimmo and really just started fighting him

oh and kimmo should have been allowed to stay in the game.

Id take Letang any day of the week over all of the guys you are talking about. He is much much better defensively than Green.

I wouldn't take Letang over Desjardins or Timonen. Letang scores goals and dishes out big hits but is merely adequate as a positional defenseman.
