Does anyone have a link to the article that says JVR skated and could play in tonight's game (but won't)? - Hextall271
James van Riemsdyk (foot) participated in practice on Tuesday. The Philadelphia winger said he could play in Game 4 on Wednesday night, but that probably won't happen with the Flyers holding a 3-0 series lead over Pittsburgh in their quarterfinal match-up. There isn't a need to rush him back in the lineup and he would likely benefit from some additional skates. It is encouraging to see that he'll likely be ready to return soon though.

Andrej Meszaros, who underwent back surgery in March, skated on his own Tuesday. His return isn't projected to be imminent, but he could be available for the Flyers in the second round of the playoffs.

Paul Martin (undisclosed) might not be available to play on Wednesday night.
He didn't practice on Tuesday and coach Dan Bylsma called the defenseman's absence a "maintenance day." Bylsma added that Martin is a possibility to suit up in Game 4, but if he can't play then Brian Strait and Ben Lovejoy are in line to take his place.

The Pens recalled Despres... I'd think (and hope) he'd get the nod over any of those others |

that would be a shame if we lost him, he's been letting us run rough shod on their goalie |

what's so bad about chris lee? tbh i don't focus much on individual officials. you'd think i would as much as i female dog about the officiating the flyers receive. - flyerscup2011
Many players, coaches and longtime observers consider Lee among the worst refs in the NHL. At least the other ref tonight, Wes McCauley, is competent. |

If Mesz is truly healthy and back for round two that is big. JVR is a great addition but the war of attrition for D is where teams get overwhelmed. Very good news.

I dont get why everyone is complaining about Shanny either. The only thing he has been consistent at all year has been being inconsistent. It should be expected at this point. - JFlyers00
He started off good but the problem is that instead of the suspensions escalating over the course of the season in order to keep the message strong and clear, he has regressed and handed out lesser suspensions and sometimes just fines. He should never hand out a fine, EVER. Not with the way the current CBA is structured. A fine means nothing. Actually let me correct that. The fine limit of $2500 is so ridiculous it actually acts as an encouragement for players to continue doing what they're doing.
The whole discipline issue needs to be seriously addressed in the off season by both the league AND the NHLPA. The NHLPA needs to get it's head out of the sand and realize that keeping fines, etc. low is NOT in the best interests of its membership. Team reps need to speak up and get the message across to their teammates. ALL OF THEIR TEAMMATES.
Ferraro said this morning that ex-players are coming up to him and saying how disgusted they feel with what they've seen go on this season, especially now in the playoffs. With the upcoming Torres suspension it will be 8 suspension in 8 days. This is not what we want to see in playoff hockey. At least not me. |

I am nervous for tonight's game. Take nothing for granted. If they win 1 game, they can easily win back in Pitt then there's a game 6. |

Even though Martin has been horrid, this isn't good news for the Pens. Martin, Asham, Adams, and Neal out for this game?
The Flyers have to end this tonight. |

we have to sweep them. if we give them any life, it will make them very dangerous. it almost never happens, the 0-3 comeback. when we did it we got gagne and carter back for game 4 (if memory serves) and they lost krecji in game 3 or 4 (can't remember which). we're still healthy (amazingly) and they're 3 regulars short due to suspension and likely to be missing ineffective dman martin. i can't see them coming back, maybe they win 2 games, but NO more unless something catestrophic happens |

Disagree, this is fantastic news for the Pens (about Martin)
I am 90% sure Bylsma benched him rather than it being an injury |
