John, I enjoy your blogs ... but seriously, everything after Here’s my take on Sunday's fiasco after watching the tape comes across as VERY whiny. Listing all the missed penalties on the Flyers? If I didn't see the game, and only went by your diatribe, I would have thought the Flyers were given the game by the refs. And then you stop after recapping the 1st period? huh?
As far as tonight, I don't think it'll be as crazy as game 3 ... but it still will get wild and wooly. Perhaps a 5 - 4 final, with special teams deciding the game. Unfortunately.
The Flyers would be smart to close out this thing tonight. Should the Pens win, and get an additional bump with Neal returning for game 5, this could quickly be back here for a game 6 before the Flyers know what hit them.

Blessings could be any of the following
-not giving up a touchdown
-holding a lead for more than a shift
-getting something other than a secondary assist from #71
-going a page on this thread without being trolled from a team leading a series 3-0
-proper NHL punishments
-my sheetz MTO being made correctly for the 1st time this week.
I hold zero hope for most of these. - ryman1566

so you write like 15 graphs on the first period
analyzing every little play - through black and yellow glasses - and then just decide to stop - without even touching on all the 3rd period crap?
literally unbelievable |

if they give nhl team one amnesty contract like the nba did, would his be it? - flyershockey
Prior to the last couple weeks, it didn't seem likely. Now, with his incredibly poor play in the playoffs combined with his uneven regular season play, it's probably inevitable, particularly since there are guys on entry level deals ready to step in and play steady minutes in his place |

Its not a topic that I like, but I bit and put some thoughts to paper:
http://my.hockeybuzz.com/...er_id=25345&post_id=13345 - Gunner Staal
Nice write-up! I tried to comment on it but for some reason it came up blank so Ill repost some of my thoughts here.
It seems what the NHL is doing is the worst of both worlds. The players have been partially handcuffed from taking matters into their own hands and policing the game meanwhile the refs/league who have taken over the policing of the game arent doing enough. When the NFL started to implement rules protecting the QB, one used to be able to make the point that if they just allowed a certain amount of policing by the players then it wouldnt be such an issue.
Think a 250lb linebacker or smaller DB wants to lay a cheap shot on Tom Brady if he has to worry about a 300lb+ offensive lineman picking him up and rag-dolling him for his actions? Anybody think that if Gary Roberts was a Flyer that he would have allowed Neal to run around hitting Giroux and Couturier? Roberts wouldnt have given Neal a choice, gloves would have been off and fists would be getting thrown. Given the repeated ineptitude the NHl has shown in doling out punishment, I wouldnt mind seeing a return to players policing the game. There is no denying it was a more effective system, albeit flawed in its own right.
Sorry for the long post. |

Did you honestly expect something extolling the slightly less poor and uneven play of the Flyers here? I'm sure Meltzer has plenty of Flyers porn for you to get off on. |

ok, i'll even discount my opinion that the analysis was skewed. but to go over the entire 1st period with a fine-toothed comb - and then just quit before doing so with the rest of the game is bizarre and pathetic, imo |

What was the most crucial point in the game? The first period. Everything that happened after was not really worth dissecting. That's not to suggest in anyway that the stupidity of Asham and Neal and the nonsense on display in the 3rd pd isn't worthy of discussion, but the game was decided by then so irrelevant to the outcome. Besides...That topic was beat to death here yesterday. |

Yeah, beat to death by posters. Would've been nice to see the view from the blogger - especially after he dissects the entire first period.
but i guess that's too much to ask |

Don't the Flyers have two blogs that theirfans can go spew their hatred in. Go, go away. We get it you don't like the Penguins, or the opinions of Penguin fans/bloggers, or anything to do with Penguins. Nothing that has been posted by a Flyers fan in the last 50+ hours has been worth anything, it's all been pointless whining about how dirty the Penguins are.
With that off my chest, I won't be upset if the Penguins season ends tonight. They been out played/coached at every facet of the game and don't deserve to win. Unless they have spent the last two days watching video and figuring out how to respond to Philly when they wake up it won't be much different than the previous three games. |

I love when people actually seek out stuff to be angered about... It's like people just want something to complain about or want to be unhappy.
It reminds me of democrats listening to Rush or Hannity, just to complain about what they say. |

He wants to be able to take Johns view of what occured and force his own opinion upon it.
I can tell you what his opinion will be. "Everything the Penguins did was dirty and bush league, they whined, headhunted, attempted to murder, sodomize and corrupt the Flyers. The Flyers on the other had were the Paragon of Right, they are so virginal and pure that it hurts to look at their blinding white aura." |

Sorry, I can’t take any more of this game. It was a disgrace on so many levels there’s no point in replaying it any longer. Onto the Game 4 preview.
That would be why he quit. Kinda the way alot of us feel about it. Purge and move on |

undoubtedly, you do not need a blogger's take on events to form your own opinion. |

Truth be told, none of the game deserved in-depth analysis. It was a poop show almost from the first drop of the puck. |
