I agree with that -- and they need to drop the hammer, not these 1 or 2 games, it should be 5-10 games.

Hopefully it starts with Torres tomorrow

Not needed, borderline at best. Would have been reviewed if Grossman went down and play stopped, IMO. Kudos to him for staying in the play, honestly hope he is ok, we've seen enough concussions to last a life time
- ryman1566

sad that he has to stay on the ice for it to be reviewed. I think it was way more than borderline. He had direct contact on his head with his elbow.

3-0 is not 8-3.
- flyersfan51

It had to be 6-3 at one point, no?

what's your honest take on the hit on grossmann?
- flyersfan51

From the video that was previously posted it looks like he gets shoulder then head. It's hard to tell from that 15 second clip though.

yup and 4-3 and 5-3 but I'm not sure the flyers tested fleury much. should be a good game 5 though. pressure is on the pens.

The sad part is that this is all still an issue, it needs cleaned up now more than ever. Someone is gonna be paralyzed or killed before people like Brian Burke 'get it'

I asked if Grossman was so badly injured from the Malkin hit, which according to some Flyer fans is suspension worthy why did he continue to play the game, until the Kennedy hit. Which a Flyer fan shot back about how he's a man and didn't lay on the ice like Michalek. Who finished the game.

I'm sure Grossmann is hurt, but from which hit? The supposedly suspendable hit or the Kennedy hit?

- Ben37

Cool then I take back the childish response I had since your statement makes more sense rather then just thinking you were being lame..

I think both hits are what caused the concussion. To me the Malkin hit looks worse but still trying to find a different angle of it.

No you're right Malkin clearly leaves his feet and drives his elbow through the defensless Grossmanns head, in fact if you stop it at the 0:13 second mark, you can see Grossmanns eyeball bulge from the impact.

Malkin deserves a 1000 games suspension for hit that barely registered.

I think he was and he probably was concussed at the time....you know we have terrible trainers and the players just wanna play.....and the second cheap shot did him in. of course a pens fans doesn't think it's a suspendable hit. They need to take a page out of the pens book and just lay on the ice as if you just go shot, then maybe something will happen.

It very likely could be Second Impact Syndrome. But I'm not sure how dirty the Malkin hit is.

Go to the 42 second mark, Nystrom got him in the shoulder. Letang is the biggest diver in hockey. Grossmann got hit in the head and didn't even lay on the ice.
- Scottie Upshall

Letang is the biggest diver in the league? Ok I know you don't like the Pens but that's a pretty funny statement.

Kesler deserves that title. Briere is close too...

The Malkin hit might be questionable, but you cannot make a strong case on´intent to injure´ or ´running a player´ for the hit.. Both Grossman and Malkin are in motion, and in the last tenth of a second, Grossman changes body position.. Malkin definitely went for the hit, but not targeting the head imo.

Funny stat... In the series, Zac Rinaldo has 19:44 of actual ice time, and has accumulated 46 minutes in penalties.

Remember before game 1 he said he was going to dish out some medicine to Crosby & Malkin... Lol...

Well much like the Penguins trainers came under fire following Crosbys concussion from the Winter Classic perhaps the Flyers need to look at their trainers. Whatever happened to the quiet room?

What you could admonish Malkin for is the raising up motion with his torso to deliver the hit. He doesn't quite leave his skates, but he comes close to it. Should have compacted himself more and lead with the shoulder to the chest region.

targeting the head and the head being point of contact is different. It doesn't matter if he was trying to hit his shoulder, if the point of contact was the head, then that's reviewable. but it's the pens and a star, so it doesn't matter.
