thinking out of the box here.............

staal wants out... we get a top 10 pick a player and a prospect mayb even a low rd pick next yr.. martin gets moved for a pick and porspect, depres called up... sid signs for hometown/concussion discount and we go after parise and another top 6 winger...

- nh4442

After seeing this series play out, the name that keeps going through my head is Shea Weber... Not sure how all of the pieces work out, but if Staal is gone, and Martin is gone, maybe it does...

Good idea in NHL12, probably not in real life lol

If Despres looks good and the Pens manage to win a game or two without looking like defensive garbage, does anybody think that will mean an automatic trip outta town for PMart this summer(not that he hasnt earned a one way ticket already)?

I do wonder how much he's hurt his trade value. You'd have to think the pens would just be happy finding someone to take that contract with no return after the year he's had.

I just can't figure out what happened between this year and last. He was not this bad last year, but this year he looks like nothing more than a fringe NHL player. Hopefully other teams view it as a bad fit for Pens system......of course, I'm not sure Bylsma and his system will be here next year either.

If Sather was able to pawn off Gomez and his rediculous contract on Montreal, Shero will certainly be able to find a suck.....oops, I mean trading partner for Martin.

How many people do you think had to google that to find out what it meant in English? All my highschool years of honors German finally came in handy, although I doubt this is an example of why it was in the curriculum.

I used an entire episode of South Park in my class. Granted...it was a 400 level US Civil War class so I didn't have to field calls from horrified parents or a school board.

If Staal is going, then we better get a top rate, stay at home, physical Dman. That would have to be the starting point.
This talk of trading Staal crept up a couple years ago when we lost in the playoffs and after I bit on theorizing about it then, I swore I would under no circumstances condone it in the future. He is too valuable. Look at all of us gushing over guys like Schenn and Couts from Philly. We have our own version in Staal and with the way Philly has remade their team I think it makes Staal all the more valuable to us.

he just can't be buried in the 3rd line center role on a regular basis. He needs to be on the top 2 lines--even if he's on a wing.

If Fluery plays bad tonight, Crosby and Malkin will join the Habs and Leafs on the golf course.

But the Habs and Leafs have already knocked the rust off their clubs.

He may end up there by default depending on who we resign. This is going to be an interesting off season.
Im curious to see what Shero does with the D. Even if Lovejoy and Martin get dealt, it still doesnt leave us with much physicality on D.

Will that make any difference in how your team did, in the grand scheme of things? But hey, at least you'll have a better draft pick to screw up!

i think we have enough dman in the system... resigning nisk and him being healthy, with despres, morrow and harrington waiting in the wings.. strait and burtuzzo are also avail for call ups and once they get some time up they should turn out decent 5-7th dman....

i would like us go after a winger in the draft, i feel we go after too many centers and then try to put them on wing, we dont have enough legit wingers...

It won't change the Habs draft pick, just saying the Pens have to play great tonight to stay alive, not like how they did in Game 3.

With all the replacements you would think they would play a simple road style game.
However this team and coaching staff have had their head so far up in the dark places for this series I expect more stupidity. Maybe they will surprise us or we can hope for some Defense because it's the Playoffs.

I hope you're wrong about the stupid stuff. I agree about the coaching staff. I think Lavy is eating his lunch. Bylsma had time to adjust and prepare 'cause the last few weeks of the regular season were pretty much like this. I don't think he'll be fired after the season, but I do see some significant changes ahead.

nh is correcting spelling? The world is ending...

On the Flyers fans: Most have come to talk hockey and we should have no problem with that. I think alot of Pens fans are just over sensitive to their visits because of the predicament we're in. Even some of the trolls are humourous, I mean Bigglesworth is comedy gold. I wouldn't ban that guy unless he really went over the top because he's so much fun to laugh at. He called me a douche earlier and I didn't ban him...

I will be here all night. If anyone is trolling, especially if we get swept the ban hammer will be swinging. However, it's not fair to restrict the blog to only Pens fans, so as long as everyone remains respectful to each other all will be fine.

Lets get this one boys. Maybe being the underdog is what we need to get off the mat. Psyched to see Despres, 2 games late imo but it will be nice to get a glimpse into the near future.
