In the Kennedy goal, Briere has the left point covered where Orpik is. Kubina, Schenn and Simmonds all end up on the Staal and Cooke. Schenn leaves Kennedy and goes in to cover Cooke or Staal (I don't remember) and leaves Kennedy wide open. What is Briere suppose to do? Rush in there and leave Orpik open as well? - PT21
I'm sorry I saw that play coming about 5 seconds before it happened. U don't have to believe me that's fine, but on that play which I just watched like 5 times, he doesn't have anyone covered. Look i already said, I want to stay positive....

Roo is the leader of this team, his disappointment at the end of game 5 was evident. His compete level is unbelievable, he could have half skated back on Cooke in the waning seconds, but he didn't and made sure he didn't score.
I expect Roo to have a great day today and log heavy minutes. The rest of the team has to feed off of his tenacity. - ravishingone
I agree, Roo is going to do everything in his power to win

Anyone going to the game today hold up signs or calanders showing it is march. Maybe bryzgalov will play like he did in march. Go flyers - MrPerfect316
Bryz is going to get a shutout today, believe guys!
Flyers won't be denied today, the crowd is going to go wild.
because his complete refusal to back check is killing this team in this series. I don't want to get into a big debate about it, because I'm trying to be positive about him. However there's no denying that on at least two goals, particularly by Staal in the last two games, Briere just stood around in the high slot and watched Staal either pounce on a loose puck or take a pass allow him to then take all the time he needed and fire a slapper into our net.
Now I'm sure someone will reply that the goalie has to make that stop, but here's the thing, you give an elite player like staal those opportunities he will make you pay for it. Don't believe me, go back and look at Ottawa's last two game winning goals.
With all that said, I believe in Laviolette's ability to either not get that matchup, which just might make someone else on Pittsburgh look like Jari Kurri, or just double shift someone against staal. I don't know exactly what to do and if I did I'd be working for a team somewhere. - JoeRussomanno
There have been a lot of defensive mistakes made in this Series by the Flyers. Honestly, is Briere the only one who has done so?
I had a dream, last night, that the Flyers started the game with an empty net. Pittsburgh scored in the first few seconds and then they put Bryz in and all was well. - Dkos
I had a dream last night as well, that stiff Craig Anderson shut the Rags out in MSG and Chris Neil concussed Brian Boyle.
This Anderson is AWFUL. I think the Sens have to consider going with Bishop or Auld in game 6. Anderson just isn't competing.
at this point I think this is more of a coaching situation in concern to that line. Just want to win right now. Pointing fingers isn't something I like to do, but that line does need to get going 5 on 5. - JoeRussomanno
Here's the story on the Coaching situation. When your playing a team like the Pens. That first of all has two elite level offensive players in Crosby and Malkin. As well as other top players such as Neal, and Staal. It is impossible for a team to get every match up in their favor. Impossible. One way or the other, the Pens are going to get some matchups in their favor. No way around it.

Like I said, if i had an answer for what Lavy is to do, I'd be working for a team.
Can anyone give me a link to a live feed for today's game? Flying back to Philly from San Diego and the plane has WiFi so I can watch if there is a feed.
I think the last Staal goal happened on a stretch pass by Ltang that was tipped by Kennedy to set off a 2-on-1. It happened b/c Coburn was pinching and was clearly a set play because Kennedy tipped the puck without even looking to make sure Staal was there.. I don't see how you could expect any forward to backckeck in that situation. If anyone bears blame, it is Coburn. - PT21
Absolutely a set breakout. And a play that was likely designed by the Pens in looking at film. They drew Coburn up, and executed it perfectly.
It's not the mistakes, it's the refusal to play that part of the game. - JoeRussomanno
I think there has been occasions where I questioned Briere's effort defensively. But I can the same about other players. I disagree that Briere refuses to play on the defensive side of the puck.
yea I got Staal and Kennedy goals mixed up. THe Kennedy goal is the one I'm talking about. - JoeRussomanno
Briere wasn't at fault on that goal either. He was in the correct postion and had his check. It was Simmonds that was out of position and blew the coverage.

It's an opinion I've developed and chose to discuss, you guys don't dissagree that's fine, I'm gonna wait until I see more later in the playoffs. What I have seen could just be a product of playing against a monster offensive team like the penguins. I give that explanantion for others so I'm willing to use at this time for briere.

No way, no how. Briere had zero chance to stop that 2 on 1. - MJL
I already said I'm talking about the Kennedy goal. FOr some reason i thought Staal scored both goals. Memory doesn't always serve me so well. I indirectly explained on twitter why that is
