Just based on this series, I think Holmgren has to get GM of the year. Guy got lambasted by the national media for those trades and the Bryzgalov signing. Looks pretty smart now if you ask me. - JoeRussomanno
I'd say the Bryz signing still looks pretty awful. |

That looks legit to me. Lilja and Kubina next in line. - stveshdy
Gus was terrific today, but I hope whatever is ailing Kubina clears up with some much needed rest.
I like his size, right handed shot, and especially his experience back there. |

I think the organizational depth was greatly under valued before the season. The trades and returns of Carter and Richards were tremendous, but college free agent signings were tremendous. The scouting staff deserves a ton of credit. |

Bryzgalov is a big reason they won this series. If he doesn't make that save on Letang in game one we lose that game and this thing is still undecided. |

You have to go back to the mid 80's to find a Flyers team that could overcome this much injury and still compete like this. |

Did those dolts on the CSN postgame show bring up that Bryz snapped that 18 consecutive playoff games with 2 or more goals allowed? They sure brought it up enough after game 5... wonder if they bothered to notice he let in 1. |

Breeze was just OK this series. He was a little too inconsistent for my taste. You didn't really know what to expect for period to period let alone game to
game.
He has to get back to where he was at the end of the season before the toe injury. |

Absolutely, Pronger has been gone so long, its easy to forget how important a piece he is on this team. All the forwards skate really hard on this team. I don't like to look back often, but there were times with Ritchie and Carter on the team, the team didn't compete as hard. This team never stops competing.

think they did, I know one thing Liam Mchugh needs to find something other than the peace in my soul line to make jokes about, it's old and he did find it. |

Gustafsson. Kid needs to stay in the lineup. - stveshdy
The matchup should dictate who will dress IMO.
Boston/Washington/NYR = Lilja
Florida/Ottawa = Gus |

I'm just saying I'd like him to gain a little more consistency as we proceed on. |

Why is that? - MJL
Uneven season and the first playoff series certainly wasn't strong, despite the win. I like the Flyers but in the upcoming rounds when dealing with teams with better defense and goalies, I predict trouble.
It's still quite possible that years from now the signing will look good, but right now it doesn't, in my opinion. |

People used to call Richards, Bobby Clarke lite, I'll say this, Giroux is just that. I'm not gonna fault Richards or Carter for the losses to the penguins, I think we had a better team to against them, but Giroux took the bull by the horns in this series. |

If he wins 12 more games in these playoffs, I could care less if he becomes Yakov Smirnoff and hits the comedy circuit.

There's no doubt but I've been saying play better in front of him and he'll look better, well the Flyers did just that today. |

Pens have elite scoring talent and a lot of it. The Flyers won't see another team in the playoffs with the ability to put offensive pressure like the Pens. If Bob or Boosh were in goal, this series would have been much different.

Personally, I wish we could move on from the criticizing of Richards and Carter, or even mentioning them. They're gone. That was then, this is now. How hard did the Flyers compete in game 5? You can like this team and the players we got in the trades without ripping Carter and Richards. Although it seems some times it's a rule or something that you have to do that.
And to be clear, I'm not saying that's what you were doing. This is in general.

What perfect timing to be negative, right after the Flyers have knocked off one of the Cup favorites in the opening round of the playoffs. In my opinion the signing looks great right now. How long has the game been over? Maybe an hour? Unbelievable.
