Giroux will inevitably be the captain of this club. I don't think there's any debate there. - LordStanley88
His status in the NHL has just jumped another level. People who may not get to see him play all the time just witnessed Giroux abuse Crosby throught the series.

Sometimes I don't know what's better, eliminating a team on the road or at home. I really love it sometimes when our fans give it to some of the more ignorant teams like this one. The Na na na chant and Crosby sucks for once finally had me on board. Yes he's a world class player but he was a big time punk in this series and for that yes he sucks. - JoeRussomanno
after losing in 08 and 09, especially 09 after blowing game 6 at home, it was fabulous to see them win here. i wanted the pens to have to travel after being sent packing, and it couldn't have been better today, with the rainy, windy, 50 degree poop storm outside. hopefully they're still sitting on the runway.

that first shift of the game, where he destroyed crosby and then scored short side will long be remembered, and for good reason.

Yes, fans across the league are finally noticing what we witnessed most of the season: Giroux is a superstar.

during those years I had to work 2-10pm at my job so i missed a lot of games. I remember scheduling days off for the 2008 series because it was the Conference finals so that one actually bugged me more but iirc Kimo was hurt and that hurt them. the next year I had to get updates from anyone that could tune a staticy radio in or check espn for the score thingy. So 08 hurt me more b/c I actually watched the series.
So great to see this team progress past those old days from years of old where we blow leads and can't overcome injury. The injuries could still hurt later but at least we got a step closer to the real goal.

Talbot would be a fantastic choice as MJL suggested. It would allow G to focus on being the best player while letting a true heart and soul guy be the official leader. - jak521
I think Giroux would make a great Captain. Today was one of the best examples of leadership I've seen in a while. But I think the kid has enough weight on his shoulders. And Talbot who clearly leads by example would be a great choice.

I would ask him if he wants it, though. Because he is clearly all but captain. He is the guy who apologizes to fans, says he wants the first shift, and does everything you want a guy to do on the ice. He is the leader. Richards was given the C prematurely but its clear Roo is ready.
