I would ask him if he wants it, though. Because he is clearly all but captain. He is the guy who apologizes to fans, says he wants the first shift, and does everything you want a guy to do on the ice. He is the leader. Richards was given the C prematurely but its clear Roo is ready. - PT21
Giroux will inevitably be the captain of this club. I don't think there's any debate there. - LordStanley88
Agreed. Did you see his reaction after his first super shift after he scored-- he was like yeah mthrfrankers let's GO. Get on my back and I will carry us today. That's a leader. He's rocking right now.

From interviews, it kind of sounds like the rest of the team sees him as such already.
I just watched all the post-game interview with the Penguins on their website. Very classy, no whining, gave the Flyers credit for being the better team. Brooks Orpik called Giroux the best player on the ice, that says a lot being that he plays with Crosby and Malkin.

Exactly.
I see Gusty made 2nd star. I am impressed with his play, and seeing how he played Malkin, I wonder what the whole deal was about him being too small? 2nd star today and very good decision in my book.

A couple of days ago I think I read somewhere Orpik called the Flyers pp the best he had ever seen.

Gustafsson was awesome today. 22 mins, a goal, +3, 7 blocked shots, and did a great job on Malkin and Crosby. Laviolette heaped praise on him after the game. Gusty will be staying in the lineup, even if/when Grossmann and Meszaros return.

That remains to be seen whether he stays in the lineup. The Flyers have had plenty of times to choose to keep him in there and have chosen otherwise on multiple occasions.

12-23 in a series are video game numbers. Flyers cannot be that reliant going forward on the PP. They will have to generate more offense at even strength.

Clearly Kubina and his 4 minutes of ice time will be staying in the lineup.

Boy did his tune change. Before the series the Flyers were scared of the pens. Now the have the best PP and Roo was the best player on the ice. Brooks has seen the light, better late than never.

He may not have been the 2nd best player in the game, but he was certainly the biggest surprise as far as playing better than expected and logging big minutes against top players. That's how you win these kind of games... your starts need to be great, but oftentimes you need some unexpected performances as well. It's nice for Gus he was recognized for that today
