To be fair, this is Sabres related. The question was about a guy Vancouver traded (to Buffalo) that a lot of its fans didn't want to see leave town. I'm glad to have Hodgson. I don't know if he is going to be that #1 center we all want the Sabres to get. He looked good in Vancouver, but struggled a bit here. A full season will tell us a lot.

The one attributable shot from Gillies was the "spent more time on his issues than anyone else" bit. It comes of as score settling and a bit petty, but giving up your third line scoring center for a bunch of maybe in what should be a contending year (ie current strength trumps future maybe) probably has him feeling a bit defensive.

As for the Vancouver vs Toronto spat: fellas lets just agree they both suck and move on please.

More the Sabres had issues with him. There was a lot of question about his work ethic.

So what was the story that started the riff between Hodgson and Vancouver? I always thought it had to do with his back injury rehab. Vancouver put him on one program, but someone in his camp (his father?) had him do a different program. Although, now that I read further, they're ticked off that he got additional medical opinions on the injury itself? Given the way team medical staffs have been wrong before (Antoine Vermette, Tim Connolly, and Sidney Crosby to name a few), I don't see why that's too big of a deal.

Ever think that maybe Cody was not ready defensively to play with the Canucks, a team that had Stanley Cup aspirations? If Cody wanted out of Vancouver due to his place on the depth chart then clearly he is not the leadership type everyone seems to have him pegged to be. Leaders understand first and foremost that the team comes first.
