Why would Philly look at Simmons, Schenn and Vorachek when they had Carter and Richards? - Juice
So Neuvrith and Holtby are having problems with the Caps leadership group and it's ruining the locker room? |

Nope... he said how far back in history do you have to go to find one better than Lou, he said he couldn't find one. All you have to do is go back 10 years. |

Some morons said Lupul for him... but I guess that is to be expected coming from dimwits who said Lupul only has 1 good year and that lou would be the best goalie in Leafs history. - burn

The point was that Toronto hasn't exactly had a great track record with trades in the last decade or so, thinking they are going to fleece everyone now is going a little overboard. If I were a Toronto fan I'd just be happy with a trade that helps both teams. - noffsin6
Burke has done some really good trades:
Kaberle for Colborne, 1st rnd pick, 2nd rnd pick
Lebda for Franson/Lombardi/Slanley (yes, Lombardi stinks)
Phaneuf + Aulie (now Carter) for a heap of garbage + white
Beauchemin for Gardiner/Jupul/4th rnd pick
I wouldn't exactly say he has bad trades in Toronto. Free agent signings on the other hand. |

Nope. But nobody knew of those deeper reasons until after the trades happened.
Pretty sure Washington's window for winning a cup is getting smaller and not bigger...Luongo is more of a guarantee then either of those two.

Philly went younger to make room for a goalie, Washington would be going older for no reason at all. |

In the East Luongo is a top five goaltender with a, for all intents and purposes, six year deal @ 6.7 million with a 5.3 million dollar cap hit. Those are good numbers because he'll likely retire at the end of the six years.
Best case scenario is at least three teams get into a small bidding war for him. Don't fool yourself, GM's want to win now and Luongo is a very good tender! Florida would have won last night if Luongo was in net for them and they'd be onto the second round. |

Last year was his career year at 67 points.
Before that it was 53 points.
Good player, just saying lets see if he regresses or improves.
He was a first round pick, after all. |

It was known that they go out and party...nobody knew that leadership and that partying was such a problem that they both needed to be traded away.
anyone who pretends they knew that was an issue and saw those two trades coming is lying and doing their best U_G impression. |

I guess you can argue that all day... But the fact remains that Luongo is still a world class goalie regardless of how crappy he is.

By "year before" do you mean "the month leading up to the trades"?
People mentioned that Pronger stepped in and took over the leadership, but NOBODY knew those two trades were coming.
There were alwasy Carter trade rumors but Richards as well...nope, I don't believe for a second that people saw that coming. |

If I were Gillis, I'd do that. But I'm not sure Luongo would be onboard with that? |
