How do you know Burke has a small package?
I don't think Tampa offers their first this year + Malone.
I said last night Malone + 2nd would be the most they would offer. It might be the most Vancouver gets. - GoneFullRetard
Malone has a NTC, but is exactly what a team like Vancouver needs. I just don't see Yzerman making that deal. He put allot of effort into acquiring picks for our teams future and I don't believe he would throw theM away on a mid thirties goalie no matter how good he may be. Don't get me wrong, I think Luongo is a great goalie and many times saved Vancouvers bacon, but if I was Yzerman I would either use those picks to draft a stellar Dman (Cody Ceci)and Future starting goalie (Andrei Vasilevski) or make a run at Bernier or Lindback even though nether have allot of NHL experience. Just my 2 cents. |

Lou will not play out his contract and when he retires it does not count against the cap. It's not that bad. I could see him in TB. They need to get rid of Malone but he will only accept a trade to Pitt. - Champ
Tell that to two other aging goalies that won't give up the ghost! |

As a Blues fan I say Yes Detroit PLEASE take Lou. But the hockey fan in me wants the Blues to play the best teams so I would want them to keep Howard who in my book is a MUCH better keeper than Lou. So Detroit as much as id love you to waste you money on that chump don't do it |

At this point the only teams that makes sense (a- needs a goalie, b- Lou may want to go there, c-van would deal to them):
Tampa Bay and the New York Islanders
Both are a goalie away from becoming serious threats and have great long-term potential. TB is a bit more constrained as they have Vinny's contract on the books...but it's possible.

Bobby Lou will end up in Tampa. I would see Teddy Purcell a pick and something else going back to Vancouver
But I had that idea : Would Luongo accept to go in Edmonton ? They're gonna be serious contenders 3 years from now, for a long time. Young team and cap space |

I bet he goes to Tampa, makes a lot of sense. His wife's from Florida, Tampa is in desperate need of a goalie to get them back into playoff contention, and he's apparently friends with St. Louis and Lecavalier. Plus, playing in Tampa wouldn't be that much pressure.

You need to get your eyes checked if you think the Islanders are a Luongo away from being serious contenders. |

The forward slash means or, probably just the 2nd. Tampa won't get back into the playoffs until they find a goalie. Sometimes you need to overpay for the most important position on a team. |

Malone is a toss in for cap reasons... his value is non-existent.
what do you expect anyways? It's not like I'm going to throw out proposals that favour the other team vs the Canucks. |

that contract makes Luongo's look good.
I would do the Malone deal, at least his contract is over in a few years.
Regardless Vancouver is going to have to take on a bad contract from someone to offset Luongo's with either a draft pick or prospect.
Guys on sportsnet were talking about Komiserek and a prospect for Luongo and I thought the same thing. Most teams who would want Luongo are going to have to trade dollars for dollars.
Benefit to Vancouver is they get a contract like Malone or Komi off of their books in 2-4 years instead of 10 years like Luongo. |
