I guess by this standard only Goalies with a Cup win are good playoff goalies.

that would be interesting. But I can not see it happening. Unless it was burrow lui and Van 1st, Even then montreal would probably say no. |

Well that seems to be the standard Luongo is held too... If he's a playoff choker, then every goalie in the NHL without a Cup is a playoff choker also.
Every goalie in NHL history without a Cup is a choker.
Not that Im a Luongo fan or anything, but people get a little carried away.

I can't see why MTL would do that. Trade a good, young goaltender for a good, older goaltender with a ridiculous contract. At best it's a lateral shift in goal, in terms of skill, and they give up a high pick for a (probably) average roster player and a late pick.
But I guess you can still want him on your team, not trying to sh!t on your dreams. |

burrows = franco
Lui = franco
that carries some weight in Montreal.
The team needs a shake up. That would be a shake up.
I doubt it would happen either, just trying to think outside the Tampa Bay box. |

Maybe it's because I'm not French-Canadian and I'm missing some sort of cultural difference...but I just don't get the total obsession with having Francophone players/coaches/front office members.
Speaking from strictly my point of view, I couldn't care less if the Islanders entire team was made up of non-English speaking Afghanistan-nationals, as long as they could play hockey. |

Habs don't care about Luongo, they have Price. Vancouver won't get much for him with his contract, not many takers, Vancouver is in a weak position to unload him. |

What about Kesler? I know Getzlaf has struggled to score the last 3 years but I still think he's unreal. He also doesn't dive as much as Kesler. Booth and Getzlaf with whatever top 6 forward Luongo fetches. You heard it here first. |

Quebecers like to have players who can communicate through the media in French. Don't forget...there is about 30 people from the media who follow the Habs full time, half of them are French media. 80% of the population of Quebec is French |

I'm not insisting he go to any team, I'm just saying he won't be playing until 43, hence the out clause written in his contract at age 38 which says that either party can walk away should they choose..... - chompsey
I have no idea what that clause actually says but one thing I can guarantee you is that there is no "out-clause". There is no provision in the CBA where you can just walk away from a contract and not have the cap hit... unless he chooses to retire of course.
Even a buyout is not quite as cheap as some people believe. If the contract is front loaded vs. the cap hit, then the math involved in the buyout calculation is not what he was "due to earn* x 2/3 divided by double the remaining length or whatever. It will not be that cheap.
