I guess by this standard only Goalies with a Cup win are good playoff goalies. - robin_steele264
No. Giguere and Hextal were worthy Conn Smythe winners on losing teams.
Hasek was amazing the year the Stars won.
Turco had 3 shutouts in one series in the first round and his team freakin Lost in 7 a few years ago.
But a cup sure does round out the resume and cut off certain arguments.
Luongo was a mess in all of his Boston games last year, and didn't suck it up in game 7. When the going gets tough, he makes excuses and cries about not getting enough respect |

I think even the expected teams won't be as interested as Vancouver would want them to be. - p_zub
Tampa, New Jersey, Washington ...
3 teams that already have very long term obligations they will come to regret; yes, even Ovechkin. Do they want another?
Edmonton? Luongo won't go there AND Edmonton is going to have cap issues already in a few years., They will have to scramble to retain their star players and ice a team. nevermind carrying a 5.3 cap hit on a guy in his late 30's at that point.
Toronto? I can't see Luongo coming here. I am not sure Vancouver/Toronto will deal, and I am not sure Burke will break with what he has previously said about those type of contracts.
Columbus? If he would waive to go there, I could see it.
Chicago? This may actually be a reasonable option since I think Luongo would put them right in the cup discussion again for another couple years while Kane and Toews are still in their prime.
All or none of this may be true... but if even some of it is true, then the market for Luongo may not be all that great.

Quebecers like to have players who can communicate through the media in French. Don't forget...there is about 30 people from the media who follow the Habs full time, half of them are French media. 80% of the population of Quebec is French - Symba007
I mean I understand that, don't get me wrong. I just don't get why it gets taken to the extreme sometimes, like everyone going ballistic over Cunneyworth not speaking French. I get the preference for it, but I just can't see getting infuriated over a lack of it.
Again, not crapping on the people of Quebec's beliefs/preferences...I just cant totally grasp it. More than likely because I don't live/have never been there. |

Most Habs fans agree with you but there is a loud minority pro French/separatist that will fight anything Anglo. |

Oh right. The "Vancouver got to the Finals in SPITE of Luongo" argument. Just like Canada won gold in spite of him. |

I hear that. Everyone's got that one loud minority voice. Not literal minorities, as in people. |

Tim Thomas and the Bruins were in all of the games during the finals last year.
Luongo and the Canucks were only in the 3 that they won....and those were close.
What was the difference in the other 4 game? His crappy play.

Seriously....they did
I'm not even sure how that can be argued. He and Bergeron were the weak links on that team |

Yes
You defending Luongo in that tourney is laughable.
That's ok. Not everybody in here understands the game. Go sit with the other pink hat's in the crowd and look forward to seeing the cute mascot, catching yourself on the jumbotron, and maybe, just maybe, you'll get to do "The wave" to complete your night. The rest of us will go watch, and understand, what's going on out on the ice. |

burrows = franco
Lui = franco
that carries some weight in Montreal.
The team needs a shake up. That would be a shake up.
I doubt it would happen either, just trying to think outside the Tampa Bay box. - caighil
Yeah...Luongo crumbles under "Vancouver pressure"
In Montreal, he will crap his pants and set himself on fire.
Not to mention the ridiculous contract.
No thanks, I'd rather keep the 3rd overall pick |
