Not being able to sign players at a discount, we'll see. Guys who want to win will be more willing to take a little less if they know the owner will still spend all that money (right up to the cap) to make the team better and not just pocket the discount. There's still no owner in hockey who can match Illitch's commitment to his team and no management team with a better track record using that money.

All the talk about the Wings being done is a little premature. They've got some holes to fill but even if they can't fill the holes right away they'll be better than average. Not going to start missing the playoffs or getting two #1 picks in a row any time soon.

I won't pursue. Gagner is better. Not really much of an issue for me.

Trade proposals on here are always stupid. That's why they're on here and not at the desk of a GM.

You may be right... Or once Lidstrom retires you team completely falls apart... Its not like there are a tonne of FAs out there willing to take discounts anymore... and the needle in the haystack drafting is never going to last forever...
