Would you take that contract if you were given a high chance of making the playoffs in the next 3-4?
I think a lot of GM's with teams like Toronto would. - Mattjd123
Which is why GM's with teams like Toronto never make the playoffs... |

Exactly - no thanks. I don't see Burke overpaying for Luongo. Keep dreaming. |

Never happened before, right?
You would make the playoffs with Lou.
It's a good feeling, if you remember. |

Ok, so lets keep bringing up the same old trade | Kessel, right? *clap clap* How about the other good trades he's done?
If Leafs get him, it's not going to be at the absurd prices mentioned in this thread. |

Well, the Leafs have such a great track record fleecing other teams. I don't think Boston will ever recover from the Kessel and Rask/Raycroft deals alone... - noffsin6
One of them wasn't Burke.
The other one was a bad trade, most Leafs fans agree. It was not really a "Fleecing" though. Kessel is still quite young and was like 6th or something in scoring this past year.... without a legitimate #1 center. I don't think it qualifies as a "fleecing". |

My bets are on a Florida based team, regardless of what he (Lu) says. He does have the final say in where he goes, if he in fact does get traded.

Because Florida never missed the playoffs back when he was their goalie did they? Unless Toronto gets Luango for nothing, that's what Toronto will be with Luango. |

This is all a moot point because I think its highly unlikely Lou wants to go to the circus that is Toronto.
Vancouver treated him badly enough. Toronto will only do worse.

Those Florida teams were a hell of a lot worse than this Toronto team.

The Leafs don't just want to make the playoffs, no point in just getting in to get hammered like the Kings, Sens, Caps |

As a Leafs fan, I am not so sure of that.
But I do agree with you that it would really surprise me if Luongo waives to come to Toronto.
Hell, it would surprise me if Toronto and Vancouver would deal with each other.

Ditto for Florida with Markstrum ready to go. You think Luongo wants another schneider situation on his hands
All signs point to TB in all honesty. They have been stock piling dmen since the deadline, they have assets to move.

Lu's close with Broduer and if Marty is thinking of retiring, Jersey needs an elite goalie. I don't like the idea, but If Lu could pick his destination, that would be my guess. |

That is the dumbest thing I think I have heard here. And that is saying a LOT! - carcus
I would say that if she wanted to date other chicks.....with an initiation for me to come along.
Sadly that will never happen |

Pass ... Fleury > Luongo in the playoffs even with the sh*tty series versus Philly. Last I checked, Fleury has a Cup. Luongo - not so much. - Oneonta Penguin
Lu has a gold medal where MAF was riding the pine. They've both LOST in the Finals, so there's that.
But really, the point of the Martin+MAF trade is that Vancouver would be also taking Martin off our hands, so we have to give up a little something on the goal front.
Seems like you're replacing a goalie who is mostly brilliant but can stink with another goalie who is brilliant but can stink. At that point, it's a push and the longer contract, and more expensive contract loses every time. We can wait 3 years for Martin's contract to expire more easily.
And I am confident that Paul Martin will be in Detroit, New Jersey or elsewhere next season. He'll be shipped off and he'll play better elsewhere. We'll get a prospect and a 4th rounder. |
