But Sharp is big in "the room". - Ogilthorpe2
really? molly, ogi...you want buff over sharp?
the guy who refuses to play forward - the only position he excels at?
the guy who shows up at camp 30 lbs over weight with a DUI in his pocket?

yes i will take a drunk fat and angry buff over sharp
he can be po ed on the ice playing on kanes wing while he uses that big fat ass to win board battles and park it in front of the net to screen the goalie
after the game he and kane can go out and terrorize cabdrivers for all i care
we can ask him how mad he is at the end of the season when he has 40 or 50 goals |

Oh how I remember the days when Buff was scorned nightly for his lazy play, for not giving his all, for his seemingly lack of interest. I went to bat for him then (at the time I was posting on another site) and I was labelled as being too soft on the team and not being critical enough. Grass is always greener. If he was here you guys would be on his back about something. |

Stan should have fallen thru the thin ice by now and his ass should be sitting in a puddle. Useless hockey man he is.
Somebody should have asked those 2 whether they collaborated in moving Brouwer out. I can see the bean counters thinking - I won't give Brouwer $2.5M -I will get Bruno and Mayers for the same money combined and get a draft choice in a trade. And if Q wanted Bruno as a replacement for Brouwer he should get a kick in the nuts too. - RickJ
I still think it was Q that was behind Brouwer's ouster. Kane had said when Brouwer left that Brouwer never felt he got a fair shake with the Hawks. IMO that was targeted towards Q since he makes the line ups and decides the lines. Q burying Brouwer on the 4th line in the playoff series vs. Vancouver told me all I needed to know about that, I could've told you then Troy wouldn't be back. I was surprised to see everyone so shocked when he was traded. Q had toyed with him on the lines for 2 years like he did with Stalberg this year. |

I still think Buff is not being used right in Winnipeg, why they don't have him at forward I don't understand. I remember him playing D the first few games of the Nashville series when Soupy was out and he was bad. |

Bolland for a physical guy? Maybe downie and a prospect. Move Kruger to third line center. Sign Stoll, Zannon and Hannan or Clark. Sign Campbell. PK fixed. Fire Kitch. PP fixed.
Pray for Hossa.
Downie-Towes-Kane
Sharp-Stoll-Hossa/Stalberg
Bickell-Kruger-Shaw
Carcillo-Campbell-bollig
Mayers
Keith-Seabrook
Leddy-Hjammer
Montador-zanon
Clark/Hannan
Seems like enough grit to me. |

its very frustrating to see my team continue to make bad personnel decisions because rocky hired a gm with no experience. our gm is relying on his dad who is 100 years old and probably spends most of his day looking for things he misplaced. bowman is charge by stan to evaluate players for him and i doubt he can even see the players on the ice any more - molly2522
I think there's more too it, and few if any of us are really aware of what happens behind closed NHL doors. I mean Toronto, the center of the hockey universe, has a "hockey guy" with a lifetime of experience at GM, and vast resources, yet they continue to flounder.
And Scotty is still sharp as a tack...and none of us really know what input he provides, and how the Hawks organization actually uses it, or implements it.
Not saying any of this to defend SB...mistakes have been made. But I certainly know that GM is not an easy job. I wouldn't want the responsibility, and none of you would want me to have it either, that is certain!
I just hope lessons have been learned from the last several years and better decisions are made going forward. I'm not particularly confident they will, but I'm just a fan so all I can do is hope for the best.
...and complain alot naturally. |

still, where is the SIZE? when bowman has the type of presser he had yesterday, he's holding his cards close to his vest. once they see what the lay of the land is with the 29 other teams, they;ll add but they're getting in the game for a top flight goalie and at least 1 big forward.
you can bet is bowman and gillis could hook up you'll see a mega deal with the canucks for luongo or they'll get to nash's people and convince him to add chicago to his list!
rocky is pissed,mc cub has an ego & scotty always had top end goalies in the motor city!
i still think you will see, with all the big name teams getting launched, some because too much skill ,no ass, others visa versa. big names will change places this summer. i bet 10,2 ,36???? some thing like that! we'll see! holmgren wasn't afraid to do it last summer, a few more will follow suit this summer! |

I think Kane would be awesome in Boston where they need a playmaker and they can protect him. It's also in the east so a deal could be made. Wonder if Boston would be willing to give up Thomas and Dougie Hamilton for Kane. Thomas is still a stud despite his age and Rask would get the nod in Boston. The real gem is the 6'5" physical defensemen who should be NHL ready next season. Salaries would equal out. Just throwing something out there that could make sense. Hawks get a 4D and a goalie now.... With that 4D projecting to a top pairing player later. Thoughts? |

If Thomas were younger - by several years - that could make for some interesting discussion. But at his age, Kane's too, it's too much for the 'Hawks to give up knowing Timmy is close to retirement. |

does look like his philosophy will change and the hawks will once again lack grit next year or as i like to say play with no b a ll s |

Not until the new CBA is signed.
Which could make it too late for any of this to happen this summer. |

Sharp won't fetch a lot on the market. 30 year old entering a 5 year 30 million contact. He's a 65-70 point per season player. Kane will fetch you guys much more.... And if it's the teams intentions to get bigger more physical players with skill then Kane doesn't qualify. He'd be expendable for the right pieces in return. Jmo. |

If you have a smart GM.. money doesn't matter... I have this argument with Baseball fans all the time.. - victorymc98
False
STL/Rangers = Monies
San Fra/Rangers = Monies
Philly/NYY = Monies
Philly/Tampa = Monies and Luck... Monies won
Boston/Colorado = Monies and Luck... Monies win again
STL/Detroit = Monies
Chi Sox/Houston = Monies
Boston/STL = Monies
In the last 10 years only BIG money teams have won the world series with 1 exception. In the last 10 years BIG money teams have competed for the world series against not BIG money teams 3 times, meaning out of 20 teams only 3 were "small" market and no two small money teams played each other for a WS
90% of world series winners are BIG money teams at least the last 10 years and definitely every one since 2003. Only two other little fish have made it. Meaning 85% of the teams the play in the last 10 World Series were BIG money teams.
Congratulations on not having an argument at all. Money talks and obviously wins a statistically impressive amount amount of times in the MLB.
Look at the NBA as well.... Big market teams that spend a crap ton of money win there as well so yes, if there is no cap in the NHL... Chicago or anyone else willing to spend as much money as possible will compete for the Cup every single year leaving out the teams with out the revenue streams. |
