I don't even care who they play, just want them to win. I'm not going to be sitting at the parade and saying, "Well, they only had to beat Wasington and Florida to get out of the East" - Jsaquella
Pittsburgh was our conference finals... Next round can be the quarter finals for us, where we get matched with a team that is lower in the standings, and the 3rd round, will be our Semi-finals.... No shame in saying we had to beat the favorites to win the cup, on the way to winning the cup. |

I dont see why Washington isn't ont that list. Remember, Loungo has to want to play there, and Vancouver will want to trade them there. I cant see Vancouver trading Loungo to Chicago or San Jose... And I cant see Loungo really wanting to go back to the Panthers. If he did enjoy his time in Florida, why not go to the better team, the lightning.
I do think Loungo would fit best in Washington.... The big city, without the killer media like Canadien cities, NY or Philly.
One thing is for sure... Ek is going to get his money's worth this off-season with Loungo and Nash. Bet you season ticket prices are about to go up... |

I think you may be forgetting the biggest issue. Why the hell would Luongo want to go to Columbus when it's common knowledge they're trying to trade the only great player they have in Nash? Lou to the Leafs makes the most sense to me. Tampa needs him the most but I ultimately don't think they're going to pony up. - hereticpride
Pony up what? Gillis will be hard pressed to get anything of value for Luongo despite his status as one of the better goalies in the league. This is a classic example for a possible change in the cba which allows a team to pay part of a player's salary. On second thought, it would be foolish for a gm to take on that contract not knowing what the cba will be. |

CLB would need to get more, no doubt, but they've needed a goalie forever like another team we like... - isaiah520
Loungo would never waive to go to Columbus, but I could see a 3 way trade here with Loungo going to Toronto, and Toronto's package going to Columbus for Nash. Vancouver might have to throw in some extra. Maybe some picks. Columbus already has a bunch in the next 2 years. Maybe just go full rebuild. Get Kadri, Schenn, Van1, Tor1.... Interesting... I might just start watching Columbus hockey with all the talent coming out that way.... |

Is it better to ride pine on a contender or be a starter anywhere? Personally, I'd rather play. The difference from worst to first is not that big. A few bold moves that pay off can turn a non-playoff team into a contender. |

But if they add Luongo, it's basically the end of Holtby and Neuvirth there. |

They do have to young average goalies. Holtby is definately having a great playoffs, but neither of them put together is Loungo. You include Nueverth in the trade with a couple of picks.... And then Washington becomes one of the most dangerous teams again.
I would say New Jersey would be 3rd on my list of teams I dont want him to go to... I would also hate to see what he could do in Tampa. That offense with Loungo shutting the door...scary. - RooNosHockey
Luongo wasn't what he is now when he was young either. If you beleive in your young goalies, you let them develop. Washington is obviously a dangerous team already with Holtby. If I'm them, I'm not looking to take on that contract. |

Good goalies are the rarest breed in this sport. Gillis will still get a very good package for him, because the options for other teams is Vokoun or Clemmensen. I can tell you one thing. Having Loungo on the market just killed the trade market for Bernier and company. He is proven and established. His contract isn't like 7 or 8 million a year in cap hit... Its a reasonable 5.3 million... Sure its a long contract, but that just means you dont have to renegotiate with him. And it appears that when he wont be "the man" then he is willing to move on... so there is always the possibility of trading him again later in the contract to a team that needs the cap hit without paying the salary. Or there may be an amnesty clause later....
When a goalie the calibur of Loungo comes on the market, I dont think his contract is going to have much of a factor on his value. Teams will be bidding the highest price for him. If he was UFA, someone would be offereing him just about the same numbers they are going to be paying him anyway... |

I sure hope the Flyers as a team aren't thinking that the Pens were the Conference Final. They have a long haul in front of them. |

The question is, does Luongo wish for his NMC to remain in tact as part of his being willing to waive it now. |
