I have heard Carter's name twice in this game but he hasn't done squat. I like him but I welcome that trade everyday of hockey season. |

In my opinion you have to respect the opponent. Karma can be a female dog. The Devils are a formidable and dangerous opponent. And my comment was apropos in my opinion. - MJL
I don't think either guy who posted was serious. |

I don't know, I like Carter but for me he is a very good complimentary player. He isn't the guy you build a team on.
I am thinking the foot injuries are catching up to him. JC might want to wear skate guards bro. |

I see your point. But I'm superstitious when it comes to this. And I see no reason not to respect the other team, as a fan. Many wouldn't like it, if Devils fans offered no respect to the Flyers. This is going to be a tough series for the Flyers. - MJL
i respect them too, and i don't generally talk smack, unless someone else initiates in a completely ridiculous way, which you find plenty of around here. the logic some use is so flawed. for example, i've seen plenty of: "flyers suck, they can't beat us (ie, rangers) in the playoffs because we beat them all 6 times. the goalie sucks because he gave up 10 goals to the pens in 1 game, and the devils will win." iow, regular season stats favor my argument for my team, but i'll ignore them when they favor yours. they conveniently ignore bryz's .29 gaa, and .987 save pctg against the devils in the regular season with 2 shutouts in 3 games and only 1 g against. imo, the regular season #s, and even playoff #s to some degree are really meaningless. you have to look at everything as a whole. and what happened in the series before generally has little meaning moving forward. every series is different. every opponent is different from the last. there's a lot of garbage being bandied about, but that's what irrational fans do. always have. always will.
as for superstitions, i've given them up. i've been buzzing my beard all along. it's a very liberating feeling. |

he was in the slot on the kings goal, and he wisely let the pass go through rather than try to get his stick on it. might have been the best thing he's done so far.
and as i type this, carter blows a pass and a great chance gets away from him. |

Because if my prediction is correct the Flyers will play the Blues for the Cup and we are not allowed to love our enemies. |

That's what I picked. I was right on 7/8 this round. I picked the ECF to be Capitals/Flyers and the WCF to be Preds/Blues. With a Blues/Flyers final, but I had to go with the Blues.... |

I just gave them up last year and it's been great. I didn't want to turn 40, soon, and have to tell my kids I couldn't come out of the bathroom because that's where I was when the Flyers last scored a powerplay goal.

Martin Brodeur will start in his 178th consecutive postseason game for the Devils Sunday afternoon when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Wells Fargo Center.
The NHL record streak began with Game 1 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals against the Rangers and has covered four trips to the Stanley Cup Finals and three championships.
Over that streak, the Flyers have gone through 12 different starting goaltenders in the playoffs – Martin Biron, Sergei Bobrovsky, Brian Boucher, Sean Burke, Ilya Bryzgalov, Roman Cechmanek, Robert Esche, Ron Hextall, Michael Leighton, Antero Niittymaki, Garth Snow and John Vanbiesbrouck.

Yeah, you guys got an AKC certified purebred, and we've had mostly mutts.
That is some comparison, though. Yikes.
