If JvR didn't score, that was a highlight reel save. Didn't see the goal, but saw some fans on here mentioning Voracek bumping Brodeur and I was wondering why the (frank) he was on the ground on the initial save. - _Zippy_
He and Voracek bumped when they came from behind the net, not sure if them bumping caused it, but they were both trying to get to the front of the net. I was surprised he decided to play it there.

obviously it's brodeur's aim to influence future calls in this series. i just hate it because he's a legend and his word carries more weight than most players' word would. and he absolutely has no leg to stand on. it's clear as day that the correct call was made. i just would hate for the devils to benefit from a flyers' disallowed goal and then score on the ensuing pp. i think he should be fined for complaining about officiating. i know the league can do that, but they don't when it comes to star players, which brodeur clearly is. - flyerscup2011
Did you read the quotes?
He specifically said that the ref's job is hard and he sees it live, but he did think JvR contacted him. It wasn't a flat out tirade on the goal, just a simple statement, but he was surprisingly sympathetic to the referees.
Brodeur said van Riemsdyk pushed his stick enough to prevent him from stopping Briere’s shot from the left point, which went between his pads.
“The referees have a hard job. They see it live,” Brodeur said “Definitely van Riemsdyk pushed my stick over when he came across. He didn’t do it on purpose. I think he’s just going in front of the net. I’ve got my position there, but it prevented me from making the save and when it goes so quick like that for the referee, especially after disallowing one kicking goal, they wouldn’t do that twice in Philly, that’s for sure.”

oh my god, stop. you are coming off as a complete crybaby. the flyers won the devils lost, it was only game 1.

Understanding what's going on, it has zero to do with having a leg to stand on. And whether he is right or not. Again, that is a huge exaggeration to say that there is anything there that would be deserving of a fine.
Kinda my thoughts as well. He didn't complain at all after the play. I think he's just trying to work the refs to try to get a call next game. Media gamesmanship more than anything else. It was a good goal. He knows it. He's just looking for any edge he can get for the next game. - BringBack25
I did see Marty make some sort of gesture to the ref like he was upset. I wondered why he was complaining. My understanding, and I may be wrong, is since JVR was completely outside of the crease then there can be no interference. If any part had been and the officials felt he impeded Marty's ability to make the save then they could disallow the goal without penalty to JVR. To me it was easily a good goal and I have nothing invested in who wins this series.
He was fantastic in the first period. He was playing hot potato a lot when he tried to play the puck, and the 2nd goal was a result of that, at least to some extent.
Both teams are going to want to protect the puck a lot better than they did today. - Jsaquella
Its the second round of the playoffs and I expect more from Bryzgalov each round. That third goal was terrible. He needs to make that save. Did he have other good saves? Yes. Just would like him to stop that Sykora goal because it was a weak shot that I could of saved.

take off the devils colored sunglasses, or bring it to a devils thread
Meh, I watched it again after the replay came up. On the first view, it seemed as if JvR made contact with his stick moving it, it went through the right side of Brodeur, where his stick wouldn't have been. I saw it differently on the first view, and it seemed like from the initial view JvR might have interfered with Brodeur's stick. It was minimal if it was, but to be honest, like I have said, that call is never going to be made whether or not JvR did it or not, but the question is should it be made if he did..... - _Zippy_
you'd have a better case for interference on the Flyers 2nd goal, where Marty was bumped a little bit by Voracek behind the net.

He's entitled to post here. Your telling him to take off the Devils colored sunglasses while stating that Brodeur should be fined for his comments. And bringing up that he won't because he is a star player. Seriously!

It was, and fortunately, it didn't come back to kill them. I don't have doubts about him, just needs to play a bit better than he did today-and he was fantasic in the first, and had a couple difficult stops later on, too.

I know, I admitted I was wrong on the first one, it seemed bad and when I saw Marty's quotes, I could've sworn I saw some contact on the initial play, but after the replay, I realized I was wrong.
That one seemed incidental, but still stopped Brodeur from adequately playing the puck, nevertheless, what a beauty on the first save.

takes class to admit one is wrong. nice to see for a change on hockeybuzz.

I agree. I still believe his best games are still ahead of him.

voracek was there and brodeur skated into him, clearly not interference on that one either. jake even tried to get out of his way - flyerscup2011
Brodeur had to go around Voracek to get to the net. If he tried to go through him, probably would've drew a call. Brodeur didn't skate into him, but rather tried to skate around him.
It's all to get the calls later. It truly is. Bryzgalov would do the same thing. I highly doubt a goalie would want to suck up his pride and say someone beat him clean, especially Marty. - _Zippy_
bryz wouldn't do the same. he would say something about raccoons and planets.
