he's the textbook example of the new butterfly goalie, which is not a goalie who just drops to their knees to stop the puck, but is one who moves around the crease in that position by pushing off the opposite foot and sliding. his movement is outstanding, his pads create a perfect 5-hole seal, and he's almost impossible to beat along the ice. he can be exploited with traffic, deflections, and high shots - like any goalie. what's impressive is that he has improved each season...not a flash in the pan.

The intermission and postgame highlighted Ovechkin taking his reduced ice time well. For a guy who's seemed a bit of a prima donna in seasons past, that speaks well to him as a captain.
