It was refuted by Gillis, I think I'll take his word over Darren Dregger, but I think it would depend on what CBJ gets for Nash and if it'll help make them competitive enough to make a run. I don't think it'd be his first choice, no, but I don't think he'd say no just because it's Columbus. I think if I was Luongo and I actually made a list, in order of preference it'd go:
FLA (Yes, they have Markstrom but this is based on preference, not need)
TB (Close to where his wife's family lives as well and they do need a goalie)
NYI (DiPetro is getting his trillion dollar contract paid by insurance, they can afford him)
WAS (This would depend on how Holtby does against the Rangers, but Luongo is an upgrade)
TOR (Canadian market, needs a goalie, for at least the first couple of years would be a king)
SJ (Neimi isn't getting it done and SJ is looking to change their core but is still a contender)
ANA (This is unlikely seeing as they have Hiller, but with his vertigo they might be in the hunt for him)
DAL (Upgrade over Lehtonen, but unlikely)
CBJ (Need a goalie DESPERATELY, but as they're 5 years away from contending who knows)
EDM (Divisional foe and probably the last place in the NHL he'd EVER want to go to)
I point this out, I think if the deal made sense to the Canucks and he was guaranteed to be the starter for 3-4 more years on a decent team with a shot at making the playoffs, I think he'd waive his NTC. - DariusKnight
Forgive me for being skeptical...but I don't agree with Luongo waiving to go to:
NYI
CBJ
EDM (Gillis won't trade him there)
The other teams, I would agree with you on. |

And be handcuffed forever because you need a #1 center and I'm sorry, Bozak and Grabvoski ain't it. - DariusKnight
And Seguin is?!
I'm sure guys like Lucic, Horton, and Bergeron have had nothing to do with his success...

Yes.
...You really don't think Seguin is going to be a #1 centre? |

You obviously didn't watch the first to games. Luongo was great but the rest of the team had no pulse. Schneider came in to try and shake things up and the team played better the next game so they stayed with him. - fiveandagame
Phrase it how you want. He started the playoffs but did not end them. Luongo let in 7 goals in 2 games, Schneider let in 4 in 3games. |

And get the #6 scorer in the league....where do I sign... - Pen15
To quote Rocky Balboa when talking about Paulie..."and they say I'm punchy".
Sorry bro, you know in your heart of hearts that if Burkey gets a mully on that trade he's taking it 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. You don't build championship teams around one way wingers. You do with stud Centers (Seguin) and Dmen (Hamilton, all signs point to him being one). If you don't believe that, keep drinking the blue and white Kool Aid |

I'm sure he will be...but he's not a lock just yet.
A lot of people like to make the Kessel comparisons...but they fail to recognize Kessel plays with NO ONE....and Seguin has been the benefactor of a great system...and some balls to the walls wingers that open up ice... |

How many times have you watched Kessel play this year?
And as of today's valuation....Kessel > Seguin |

Have seen Seguin play? He plays on a good team but his in no way a passenger. He is going to be amazing in a couple of years and it pains me to say that because I absolutely hate the Bruins |

Didn't know you watched 82 leafs games this year to give that assessment...tks for the great insight. |

Kessel is a cherry picker who floats around waiting for the puck, he got 37 goals and 45 assists this year because Lupul actually showed signs that he was worth trading Pronger from Edmonton for him. Lupul opened up the ice for Kessel and picked up his garbage, are you telling me that Kessel is THAT good on his own? |

Again, if watched the games and didn't just look at the stat line you would know how well he played. He was completely hung out to dry. The team had more jump in game 3 and the went with Schnieder, who looked amazing |

Almost watched every Bruin game this year (I'm a secondary Bruin fan...love the city).
And yes...he's on his way to being a great player. But he's not even close to being as effective if he doesn't have the ice opened up for him.
Put it this way...if you put him in the leafs lineup this year after the all star game (when teams started to play tight neutral zone games)...he's as effective as Lupul. |

His play has increased year over year...and he's not even come close to being in his prime.
And to your comment about him being a cherry picker...you clearly didn't watch a lot of leafs games...his two way game has massively improved since coming from Boston. |

Why spend the money in FA when the market's inflated beyond reason? A quality (notice I'm not saying star or superstar) goalie in FA is going to cost teams at least 4-4.5mil per season, maybe more seeing as Bryzgalov's deal skewed the comparables. It's why Schneider will cost us 3-3.5 for 3-4 years as a RFA to keep in Vancouver, quality starters cost significantly against the cap because there aren't many out there. - DariusKnight
That is what I am trying to say... If a team trades for him it's basically like they are signing him as a free agent, 6 yrs 5.3 a year. Thats a big comittment, but trading valueable assests and taking on that contract for someone who hasnt exactly been great in the playoffs is hard to sell |
|

You shouldn't start your post that way followed by something this asinine.
The last thing MLSE needs to worry about is REVENUE...the leafs can probably buy half the NHL teams twice from merchandise and broadcasting contracts alone...but thanks for clarifying it for me.
The ONLY reason Luongo is a no go for blue and white is the fact that his contract will limit the moves the franchise can make going into the future. - Pen15
Then why is every Maple leaf fan in here for the last month biitching about Luongos salary?
What friggen moves are you talking about .
Imagine me screaming "YOU HAVEN'T MADE THE PLAYOFFS IN 9 YEARS .WTF ARE YOU WAITING FOR ." |

Didn't, but I watched enough. Kessel is a good player, but not even close to a top 10 player in the league. |

Well he's top 10 in scoring (6th to be exact)...and he's been improving his TOTAL game every year since he became a leaf....and he's still a good 3-4yrs away from his prime. |
