I like Hodgson and think he is going to be a star some day when he gets traded to the Leafs. He had 41 points this year on the Canucks .Lets see how he does on his new less talented team.

Probably, I am basing my opinion on what a few Nuck fans said in the Sabres post... Basically it was " Enjoy Hodgson, he sucks now" kind of post, but when I brought up Kassian's attitude problems they were irrelevant. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

I'd love to see said posts. Chances are if they do exist, they were dripping with sarcasm. Safe to say, Canuck fans have a lot of respect for Cody's ability and the player he could become. Now his demanding of ice time, parents and choice of agents, that's another story

Toronto is NOT going to be a contender for several years because you lack the pieces necessary, which means to get them, you'll have to overpay UFAs to entice them to play on a non-contending team. You can't afford to miss the playoffs much longer or you're going to lose your core once Burke is let go. This is not speculation, this is fact, Bernier or Lindback will not significantly improve the Maple Leafs enough to get over the hump.

Here is what you get with Luongo, yes, his contract runs out in 2021, but for at least 5-6 years you will get MINIMUM 30-40 wins a season, .910 SV% and ~2.3 GAA. That alone with a serviceable backup gets you into the playoffs and possibly even your division as Boston is declining.

So you would overpay for an average goalie because he "won't lose games for you". Your problems run deeper than that, but ok, to get in the playoffs you need minimum 90 points (which based on this year's standings is roughly the cutoff point for 8th) That's at least 35-40 wins and 10-20 loser points on top of that. A goalie that "doesn't lose games for you" isn't going to be enough. Of all the playoff teams that made it, all had quality starters who stole games on occasion, not because they didn't lose them for their teams.

You know what is also emabrrassing . A person who thinks Bernier gives you better chance of winning that Luongo .This should tell you everything .Luongo has 4 times as many shutouts as Bernier has career wins .
