We were all waiting for the reasoning behind trading Cody... now he comes out with a taste of news and you guys jump all over him for being honest.
I applaud him for ripping the kid, the NHL doesn't need rookies telling GMs and coaches what to do, especially when it's done by the kid's father. - Scooby_Doo
Exactly. How do you think Kesler feels busting his ass for six years before getting a sniff on the second line. You work for what you get. |

I have to agree with the Doc ,Gillis did not handle it well .He should have just kept quiet. We are seeing MG is not superman but all in all a damn fine GM. - VANTEL
Ya he's not the super GM everyone thought but he's better than 25 other ones and I disagree. Gillis was right to say what he said. The entire city was a bunch babies thinking Cody would have been an impact player in the playoffs, when he wasn't one in the regular season. He would have been DOMINATED in the playoffs. Gillis was just telling the cattle how it was. He doesn't do it enough. |

Nor should he.If everyone knows his business then we will know his weaknesses too, same as not revealing an injury of a player. Our business in the finished product on the ice. What is happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. |

Luongo makes 5.3
Youll need to resign Schneider...dosnt exactly give a ton of extra cap space if you move him for nothing. Plus, consider that whatever you trade Luongo for, there will be cap coming back. - noename09
Thanks, Gary.

One step closer to the Olympic team. A good showing in this tournament will get him an invite at least. |

The people who keep beating this drum are clueless - I'm glad you let the media do your thinking for you.....
Lu is the best goalie on the market should gillis even try to trade him. He's a known commodity and don't let the 10 years fool you - cap circumvention - he'll retire in 5 years with a moderate cap hit of $5.3 mill which in 2 years will seem like peanuts. He won't fetch an elite package but he will get a return that will help Vancouver... |

Please. Leino's contract can't be judged after one year.
Dipietro, Yashin.
'Nuff said.
Edit: I don't think Yashin was Snow's handy work but he's still paying him. - Pairo11
The Canucks just finished paying Messier two years ago. Messier wants to sue for more... |

Yeah, the return will be dumping that abortion like contract.
And yes, that will help vancouver.

For what? Trading your precious Cody? Kassian will be a more impact-full player. Offensive player's who can only play in the other teams zone are easy to find. Players that weigh 230 lbs, that can skate better than the aforementioned Hodgson, are not easy to find. He was in his rookie season last year, and at times could physically fend off big 30 year old defenseman. Wait until this kid develops and gets comfortable. - Boinker
You obviously didnt read the story today. It wasnt about trading im...it was about all the crap Gillis has been spewing.

You're wrong about that one. Luongo has a lot of value. When was the last time a goalie of Luongo caliber was traded? |

All the crap? He said one thing. Cody was high maintenance and didn't wanna be here. ooooooooooo sooo bad. Gillis should be fined for that. After all of Burke's done here I figured something like that would be nothing to our ears. I guess not. Gillis had to say it because of the pressure he's been under, so in short its because of you, yes you Booner, that gillis said that. If you weren't such a whiny b*itch, like most Canucks fans, he wouldn't have had to say it. |

Anyone got this beauty?
And my point is if their goal is to win the cup in the next 2 years then moving Schneider would accomplish this better, then moving Luongo.
Moving Luongo brings in extra bodies they may not exactly want/need. It may bring in extra salary that will work against them immediately.
Moving Schneider will fetch better asset(s) and help them immediately. They move their "supposed role players" and bring in better ones, and work on playing hockey, not soccer. The team is immediately better.
The team needs to improve in : grit, leadership, character.
Not goaltending.

Ya 6 years at 5.3 is so bad for an elite goalie. It's so unwatned that it'd get the Leafs and Blue Jackets into the playoffs next year. I guess teams don't wanna make the playoffs? |
