Grabovski and Kessel mix like oil and water. Not happening. Colborne is not 2nd line center yet either. He's barely a 2nd line center in the AHL. Crabb can take a hike.
Blacker Phaneuf
Gardiner Schenn
Liles Franson
Forgot Gunnarsson. And Blacker isn't a top pairing defender as a rookie for the same reasons Colborne isn't a rookie 2nd line center. Not good enough.

I admit i was shocked what they gave grabs, but it's done. Almost two years ago i said that Frattin was my dark horse pick to make the team, next year will be D'Amigo and a real dark horse will be Ross. - LeafMan
I expected D'Amigo to have a good year this year despite a certain prospect expert pegging him as a 3rd liner at best. Brad Ross is at least one year, if not two years away from having a real shot with the Leafs given their contract situation and the style of game he plays. |

Armstrong, Lombardi and Connolly have got to be the most expensive and least effective 3rd line in the league. I haven't done extensive research but at roughly 11 million dollars a year, that's money wasted. Add in Komisarek, the most overpaid 7th defender in the NHL, and the Leafs are wasting a good 15 million dollars of cap space on worthless, ineffective, sad sack excuse for hockey players.
Hopefully, and this is going to take a lot of luck, there will be some cap floor teams willing to take at least one or two of these slugs off our hands. Especially Komisarek. |

Ross has more of a pro game, and Percy as well... Biggs is close too. I'm not knocking McKegg, I'm very high on him but he's not our top prospect. |

Are any of our prospects really that good? If they were, they'd be on our team right now. If you can't beat out Tyler Bozak for a spot, you can't be that good......... |

They're both older than him and ahead on the depth chart, so, yes, they are.
Same reason Frattin made it over Kadri. Older and more prepared for the NHL. |

Why I think D'Amigo has a great chance, well he has really devolped a two way game, the other big reason is he worked hard on his core strength which is very noticeable this year. |

Problem with beating out Bozak is that he's in the prime of his career. It's hard for an 18 to 22 year old to beat out a guy who's 26. You have guys who are learning compared to a stronger, older, more experienced player.
This is why some players, like Kadri next year, you just have to give him a roster spot and live with the mistakes in an attempt to let him grow rather than expecting him to beat out a veteran player. |

He's not the biggest guy in the world though so speed and core strength are vital to survival. Exactly why Kadri hasn't made the jump yet. |

So this is Bozak in his prime? ............... yikes
I look to teams like Philadelphia who have an unending amount of young guys in their current lineup yet we can't even put in one young guy who can be a difference maker. I would take the weakest prospect off of philly right now who is on their big team and he'd be head and shoulders ahead of any of ours which is why I feel like our prospects can't be that good if they can't crack the lineup.
Yes you can use the excuse of oh well we're breeding em in the AHL. But not even one can make it and play strong in the NHL? I hate to use em again but Philly's young people are just as young and they are ripping up the playoffs.
I dunno, if we had legit top six forwards and they weren't making it, i'd be like Detroit and say yea well nobody is going to beat out Datsyuk etc. BUt when Tyler F'n Bozak is your #1 centerman and you can't crack it over him? Just depressing I guess. |

Eakins said what is impressing him about Kadri the most is the kid even when he's not on a hot streak of scoring goals, he's laying the body and playing great defensive hockey
So I'm not sure how much longer this excuse of oh Kadri isn't defensively good enough to make it is going to last........
I guess not going along with Don Cherry is more important
