was that the puck or a stick on Gionta? - FlyerGuy
Close, could've been both, but it was a follow-through so it wouldn't have been called anyways. |

As long as they call it both ways, I'm fine with it. I thought Salvador made a good hit. I'd rather they let them play a little more. I mean the Timonen hook was ticky tack.

The JVR penalty was at a bad time for the Flyers. They were buzzing and somehow they end up with a penalty. Not a fan of bullpoop like that.
edit: call the penalties, but don't try to change the flow of the game. |

Well, it doesn't help that Salvador came up high with a cross-check. |

Brodeur had it covered, may not have been completely, but JvR came bulldozing through, he didn't just poke at the puck, he pushed Marty, and the way he did it was more to draw a scene than anything else. The call is questionable, but JvR knew what he was doing. |

I'm never fine with zero tolerance. It takes the game away from the players and puts it in the official's hands. Never a good thing. |

What I saw on the replay was he didn't push Marty, he went for the puck and then checked the guy who was standing next to Marty. |

Maybe, but it was marginal at best. Not ONE of these penalties for either side has been a good call. Just so long as they stay consistent, the players will adjust I guess. But no flow equals poopty hockey.

I understand what your trying to say. But I've never seen a game that wasn't decided by the players.

But Salvador made himself look bad. Cross-check, up high, and the puck wasn't there. All he had to do was just stand there and stay in the way, there was less than one second to play. |

Pushed him with the stick. He didn't just poke at the puck, he poked hard enough to push Brodeur. |

It seems like they are trying to protect the goalies. What did Gionta get a penalty for, jabbing at the puck too? |

I thought he got 2 minutes for slashing, not pushing. |

I just found this funny, though slightly unfounded. I don't question Kovalchuk's desire to play. But this is still pretty good. |

And I understand what you're saying as well, but I've seen a few games heavily influenced by the stripes when they feel they need to be overly involved. |

I agree. When the refs feel a need to be seen and heard when it's not necessary, it disrupts the natural flow of the game |
