Is points the only determining factor? And do you really think the Flyers aren't going to need Hartnell if they're going to make a serious run at the Cup. This year and in the future? Carter and Richards are all situations players for the Kings. Both log big minutes and play on the PP and the PK. How in the world are players who do that, secondary players? It's a team, and every player matters. Just look at the Flyers and see the contributions that every player makes. Such as a player like Wellwood. And the quality minutes he is giving them. You need all hands on deck in the playoffs. - MJL
I'm not gonna go around and around with you. Those two became sour apples here last year, the fact they were traded shortly after signing massive contracts says so. Are they talented players, yes but they don't hardly live up to their potential at least not consistently. Yes I'm glad they are gone otherwise I fear this team would have been subjected to most likely a decade of mediocrity. Again the trades indicate that management felt the same way.
La would be where they are without those two. Good luck to them, I hope they grow up and become the players they are capable of being. |

I don't think that's true Joe. L.A. clearly saw a lot of leadership out of Richards in last nights contest, and he's second in even strength ice-time amongst their forwards. |

It's impossible to make this statement with any kind of reasoning behind it. Both players are , and have been very good their entire career. Good players get traded all the time. The fact that they were traded doesn't mean they aren't good players, or "sour apples" as you put it.

He's playing some fantastic hockey right now. Quietly 3rd amongst ALL playoff scorers in points. |

Both Richards and Carter are in the top 4 in minutes played among forwards for LA. And both play on the PP and PK.

Voracek is very talented obviously. He doesn't possess a shot whatsoever though. He kills with speed and passing though. High praise though from Elias. |

You could see Voracek coming on all Season. I think he can be even better then he is now. Flyers are going to have some big issues in the future.

Yup. Just goes to show their importance to the club. I'm glad they finally seem comfortable in their new environments, and I wish them luck, that is unless they meet the Flyguys.
But we'll worry about that later. The Devils are the focus right now. |

If I'm Homer, I'm trying to sign him to a long extension now before he becomes even more expensive. Hopefully that gets done this off-season. |

6-1 against the 2 best teams in the West so far. They have the potential to knock out the top 3 seeds on their way to the SCF ala Calgary in 2004. - canadianpenfan
And I hope they follow that trend and lose in SCF |

Carter most certainly was a "sour apple" in Columbus. That's why he's in LA in the first place. |

Well then he never uses it. He could easily produce 70-80 points with his skill set. |

His shot is fine. He's just hesitant to shoot a lot of times.
The same goes for Giroux, but as we all know he has both a lethal wrist and slap shot. |

Definitely a lot of tough decisions coming up. Hopefully they can turn some of the depth at forward into defensive prospects or a young NHL ready defenseman. |

I disagree with this entire statement. The media and the way the Flyers management handled Richards and Carter are as much to blame for the situation. Richards always got a bad rap because of the media... whether you agree or not, its a fact. He was a very poor interview and didn't want to speak... I have no issues with that but the media and fans did. I don't know where this " potential" came from that you speak of. Richards and Carter weren't Crosby or Ovechkin. Richards was a do everything player and that is exactly what he did here. Carter was a goal scorer, and that is what he did here (not always in the clutch)... Homer cried trading Richie... but he felt it was best for the long term to do that. He even said at the presser that he didn't think they were a better team without them, just different. They looked at their roster and realized that they needed to shake things up... Frankly, they were two of the easier players to move... Medium to High cap hits with their NMC/NTC not kicked in yet. Not sure I agree that this club would have been destined for mediocrity... |

They could always just sign defenseman. The Bruins don't have one home grown d-man on their club.
Obviously I see us taking a d-man with our 1st rd pick this year though. |
