Philco, bluntly and no holes barred, what is your take on what is left in the front office and the possible candidates bowman has to choose from! this wienerhead might promote kitchen to assistant GM when 29 other teams would have sent him packing 1 hour after the last game! boy are we gonna return to some lean times!
i sat thru the last 10 years of bull s hit before we got good. no way at these inflated cub like prices will i stick that long again!
if this guy doesn't hire a capable assistant from the outside instead of the garbage he's got running rockford (who didn't even make the mother Fukin playoffs this year!) then rocky's got some serious problems starting!
then i could see tazer not re upping and going home to winnipeg in 2-3 years!
my question is , where the F has mc cub been? the year they won the cup, his face was plastered all over the place! now he's turned into a stealth!

ROTFL....i'm not sure bro. If i had a PHUCKING CLUE or any power...i'd have kicked Kitch in the pills 3 times and then to the curb at the exact juncture you suggested.

As for who is out there ? Doesn't Scotty Reptile have some cronies hanging around. Where'd the GREAT Barry Smith go ? Wouldn't surprise me if Barry's number one job all those years was to wipe Scotty's a s s. He isn't the future.

As for others ? I'm really at a loss at this moment. Sorry bro.

I understand what you are saying.... but I think you are omitting the other half of the equation... the LTC. Hawks have 6 players with more then $5 mil locked up in LTCs (4 with NMC's, 1 with a NTC, and Hossa is unmovable at this point). The Pens have 3 LTCs at exactly $5 mil each (2 with a NMC, Fleury and Martin). The Caps have 2 LTCs remaining both with NTCs (Backstrom and Ovie).

The pens and caps have much more flexibility to make moves as needed over the next 3+ seasons while the Hawks are stuck paying $35 million/yr to 6 players. That's why I doubt they pick up a 7th $5 mil+ LTC unless they unload one of the 6 they already have.

You are right I probably shouldn't have picked an arbitrary # but I was trying to find a reasonable point where long-term contracts would start to get more difficult to unload. Most of the Hawks LTCs are pushing $6 million AAV in actuality.... and remember it would have been 7 big contracts which led to SB getting fleeced on the Campbell deal.... at some point it will be the same thing all over again.

Understood most of your points except the immovable part.

Kane Toews and Seabs are definitely movable. Highly movable and Hawks will get a lot back for them. I dont understand why you hold the opinion Kieth is not movable Then theres Sharp and Hossa (I think Keith is still HIGHLY movable) But if the point is getting rid of the contract to make a different move someone will take Sharp or Hossa to help with a cup run. Hossa's contract is a anti cap contract even though there are a lot of years left the salary is peanuts at the end and Hoss will retire.

So the point is not what they will get back but rather IF they can move it and as we saw with Campbell (many thought that was immovable) All those six contracts are movable.

Bernie's a GREAT GUY....i attended his day with the Cup when he had up in his hometown of Mount Hope, Ontario. I think he's too valuable down on the Rock. He's been an excellent conduit between the big club and Rockford. If he's promoted, i'd be happy for him...but might the Hawks look for a more NHL experienced replacement ?

Disagree bro...he's helped developed a lot of guys...Niemi, Crawford, Olsen, Shaw....he's a very good minor league exec.

Right it depends on what the minor leagues primary objective is. A lot of times they are at the mercy of the big club. Some organizations pay big money for full time AHL all stars to help their AHL affiliate win and simply sprinkle in the prospects. These teams believe that winning is important for the prospects even though they may not log a lot of minutes or play on the first PP. While others like Rockford hold the roster spots and important minutes almost exclusively for the prospects. Harder to win with this mantra but the prospects get more ice time.

Lot of youth at Rockford. No offense to EK...it'd be nice if Rockford was a perennial AHL playoff team, but as long as good prospects are developed, i'll take it. Mind you, playoff experience at the pro level would definitely benefit all our best prospects.

You should reread my original post you responded to. We agree on some things. Kane, Toews, and Seabs have great value. Keith might as well slap the name Bryzgalov on the back of his Jersey..... He's 28, has been sucking it up, and still has 11 years left on a $5.4 million/yr contact. Sure you can move him if you are willing to take a loss. Hossa at this point is immovable.... He could retire he could not retire, either way he got his bell rung and no one will want that contract without seeing if he can regain his form. Not sure how under 35 contracts work but whether Pronger retires or not the flyers are still on the hook for his AAV until the contact expires. Wouldn't hossa's work the same way..... And if he goes LTIR it still screws up the cap a bit like Lappy did in Philly for two seasons. This part I could definitely be wrong about (how retiring, ltir, under over 35 effects the cap). Sharp has value but once he kicks in that $5.9 million deal his value based on age will only decline from here unless he puts up enormous numbers. I still maintain Hawks will not get another large LTC (i.e. Suter) without first unloading one of the 6 they already have.

WRONG! i'm a die hard cub fan! i don't hate john, just don't like what he did to dale & the fact that he's brought the bull crap ticket pricing structure over from the cubs. our tix have doubled in the last 4 years!

REALLY? well here's hoping he puts the boot up kyle beach's ass this summer and turns this kid into what he was supposed to be! i may be the only 1, but i say hang on to beach and work with him. i think he finally is realizing he's 1 season away from carrying 2x4's at a construction site if he doesn't get it in gear next season!

Exactly...even the best mentor can't claim a 100 per cent track record. Bernard was a goalie in the minors for well over a decade, so his street cred in riding the buses is well established. He's done a very good job IMHO...but Beach as we know...is nearing his 9 live quota in our organization.

I remember him most for the Gibson homer in the '88 WS....and the Robbie Alomar homer in the '92 ALCS, which other than the Joe Carter Series winning tater in '93...is the most famous homer in Jays history.

In the '89 playoffs...Eck would strike out guys and being the d i c k head he is...would point and mock them.

Sweet revenge, especially Robbie's reax at 1:11

Gibson's homer was my favorite at bat of all time (seeings as how I've never seen a Cubs homer in a WS game) - all or nothing, homer or out.

There are some baseball moments unlike those in any other sport.

No offense taken.

Over the last five seasons since moving to the AHL, Rockford has made the playoffs three out of five years. I guess I can't complain about that.

If SB ain't the GM, he ain't here and daddy goes too. Wonder if Rocky would be willing to consider that.

What's Ernie Banks have to do with this?

Please do not ever use the term "Mr. Cub" to allude to McD. The name McDonough as "Mr. Cub" is an absolute insult to the greatest Cub ever. Personally I like BBB: Beanie Baby Buddy

I guess we'll find out if Beach is "finally realizing it" sometime before February of '13. If he hasn't by then, I'd venture to guess Bowman will try to deal him, or at worst let him walk that summer. That's if he hasn't been traded before September.

You and me are probably the only 2 guys on this board who know where Mt. Hope is.
And the Hawks have a kid in their system who's old man grew up in that one horse town. Know who he is?

I agree, hang on to Beach and give the big dummy one more year to get his act together. They have about $3M clams invested in him already and I don't think they have anybody else in the system like him with size and supposedly pure offensive ability. Of course, don't have anybody else with as bad a rep as him either.

He is one of only 4 players from the first round of that draft who has never played a game in the NHL. Tallon could have chosen Tyler Myers, Erik Karlsson, Del Zotto, Jordan Eberle, Derek Stepan, John Carlson, Jake Gardiner ahead of him....... - what did he know about him or was it just a big gamble that hasn't turned out? That was one hell of a draft year.
