what's your take, sir? - Crimsoninja
I'm just chalking it up to a dud and am confident that they'll assess and adjust for game three.

It doesn't ruin my day, and it doesn't ruin the hockey for me. It's just irksome that players are required to interview, punishable by pain of fine to the team, with people who're only seeking to make them look bad or stupid.
You're right, though, that there are more important matters at hand. Such as the Flyers coming out and flattening the Devils tomorrow night! - BulliesPhan87
i would love to see the flyers flatten the devils |

That first line needs to be better and lead the way. Giroux will ether bring the noise and lead the boys or come out flat and the rest will follow that. Hey, I'm a poet...and I didn't even know it.
I like Hartnells comments here: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=630454
Bodes well for game 3 in my opinion. |

Agree. He'll come out loaded for bear. And if he kills all the bears, Bryz will be more comfortable. |

I have a question. And it's one that I don't know that anyone can answer. What causes a team, not just a player or two, but for the most part the entire team, to come out and play as poorly as they did last night? In a playoff game. It's an interesting phenomenon if that is the right word. I could maybe understand a regular season game, during a long season. But this was a playoff game. |

Overconfidence is part of it, I'm sure. The same thing happened in the Pens series in game 4.
Yesterday was a nice wake up call for them, hopefully. |

This series is going to be much more difficult than i once thought. The devils do nothing to push the flyers buttons. There hasn't been so much as a scrum after the whistle yet. They could use Rinaldo against them. Flyers struggle when their emotions aren't involved. Perhaps getting beat like that will trigger them. Briere was awful, he made radulov look like a seller candidate last night. I don't understand his laziness in our zone. He wasn't the only one. He was the worst though |

Yeah. I just saw that.
I've been a Chargers fan since the 80's. This is very sad. He has a great sports bar/grill in SD and is a legend there. Just horrible. |

That is a fair idea. All they have been hearing lately is how good they are (compared to the Avengers? Really Melrose??). I agree they need ot get their noses dirty. I believe Hartnell, Talbot, and Simmonds need to bring their meanness next game for success. |

Probably a million ways to answer that. Youth and inexperience. Failure of the coaching staff to make adjustments. Overconfidence. Complacency with an early lead.
Probably all of those things and quite a few others. Learn from it, bring it hard on Thursday |

+1. Ferraro said the same this morning. There used to be this hated rivalry between us and them but it's gone now, what with all the personnel changes on both teams. I'm sure Robinson and Oates are just telling them to mind their P's and Q's, stick with the system and play the patient game. It worked for them last night. Plus it doesn't hurt them that much to have Kovalchuk out of the line-up. It was probably a bit of a galvanizing thing actually. Same for Nashville tonight, and I think they win tonight too. |

The leaders of the team unfortunately led by example last night. I thought Simmonds, talbot, and wellwood were trying hard to get it going once they tied it. Flyers need to put a new wrinkle in the power play. Devils have diagnosed it. Getting on the road will prove beneficial. Put the pressure back on the devils and make them put on a show in front of the crowd |

I also found the following comment from the Yahoo/Seau article very surprising. Ultra surprising actually. Wow.
"Seau is the eighth member of the Chargers' 1994 Super Bowl team to pass." |

Seau also drove his car off a 30 ft cliff and lived. I think this guy had some issues to put it nicely |

All of this.
I think the one goal lead + seeing how on point Bryz was + no Kovalchuk had them way to confident, way to fast. It's a 60 minute game, and they (sorta) played a solid 20. |

If we knew that answer we would be coaching with Lavi. I'm trying to look at the positives but there wasn't much from yesterday's game. Effort is the biggest factor in tomorrows game |

I want to issue a sincere apology to not only my fellow posters here on Hockeybuzz, but to Flyers fans everywhere.
What transpired last night- that debacle...the horrendousness that was game 2- is a product of my oversight. I worked until 9, and- therefore, didn't get to firstrowsports until the about 5 minutes had gone by in the third period.
With this said, I was not able to listen to Led Zeppelin during intermissions last night. Hell, I wasn't even here for an intermission. I take full responsibility for last night's trainwreck, and although I'm not asking for forgiveness, I do ask for your understanding.
In the coming games, I can assure all of you that copious amounts of Led Zeppelin will be blasting into my ears, drowning out the clowns in both the announcers' booth and the intermission report.
Again, I ask for your understanding. Any forgiveness bestowed upon me is merely a blessing.
Sincerely,
Matt

Confession time. When I got to my seat the people 3 and 4 seats to my right asked if I and my right seat neighbors would move one seat to our left so their friend, in Mimi's seat, could sit with them. I was leery. It was unprecedented. But I and my neighbors did it. I cannot help believing that my not sitting in the seat in which I have sat for the vast majority of the games played in that building ever somehow discomposed the Flyers. I am heartily sorry and it will never happen again.

There was definitely a lack of emotion in the Flyers play last night.
