he's just been unlucky. goal scorers go into slumps. - bradleyc4
Hasn't looked like the guy from the first half of the year, IMO. But Hartnell hasn't been his typical self either offensively. That line gets a lot of attention. Need to figure out how to get them going. |

Not to say he is the goat of the game, I am only pointing him out as I see it as a possible change the team could make to improve.
He hasn't been effective for most of the playoffs.
Flyers need to bring it on Thursday. - flyer_nutter
I am pleased on the whole with Jagr. Dude is 40 so you gotta expect he isn't going to be absolutely dominant out there. He hasn't gotten away from his penchant for trying to stickhandle through 2 or 3 guys at the blue line. That might be what irks me the most about Jags. Been watching it happen all season. At some point you'd think he'd begin to hold up and look for the open guy for the dish. Hell they should start designing breakout/zone entry plays based on the fact that Jagr always seems to draw at least two guys when he is nearing the offensive zone.

I feel they got over confident. By the time it was 1-1 and they started to wake up it was hard to stop the train that kept coming and coming at them.
They got far too cute with the puck in the offensive zone. There were a few times even in that 2nd period where they had a good chance to shoot the puck or take it to the net and the team chose the pretty play that didnt work.
On a side note more direct in your face play could greatly help Harts get back on the scoresheet. He needs to get it going as well. - flyer_nutter
they definitely got too cute, and lost a lot of good opportunities. the devils really played well and had much to do with the flyers ineffectiveness though.

Someone already mentioned this, but the more chippier the game is--the more likely the Flyers are going to be playing their style of game. - KGBflyers10

Jags looked slow from the start yesterday. I wouldn't mind seeing them swap up the lines a bit on thursday.
btw - anyone else going to the game? - deligirl83

That's good because the game was basically unwatchable. - funmaster18
I'm not taking anything away from the Devils but when they play every game is pretty much unwatchable. I tried watching the Panthers series with them and I could not even make through a period. Just plain old boring hockey. For them it wins...but it's boring to say the least. |

I would also like to say that this series seems to be very low emotion.
The Flyers are a team that thrives on the chippy play. There has been very little physicality in either of the first two games. It's a way for the guys to get into it and they simply arent punishing the Devils enough.
Jersey should be a tired team and the Flyers need to give them no breaks.
Grossman in particular looks nothing like his former self. Still making some good plays but he is missing that anger he seemed to have. If he is still feeling something from the concussion that is understandable, but doesnt excuse the other players. - flyer_nutter
I think they were starting to hate a little late. Which can only be a good thing. |

I think getting embarrassed at home yesterday over the last half of the game should provide enough motivation for the Flyers to play chippy. Every team has a bad game. Unfortunately the flyers had theirs on a day the devils were feeling it. |

If I had to guess I would say Jagr is not 100%. He doesn't seem strong on the puck, is a step slow recently, and last night was really not making any good decisions with the puck or winning any battles. (that last part could apply to anyone last night, so take that as what it is)

I don't put that much stock in the whole timeout thing, but I thought Lavy could have called one about 8 minutes or so into the second. You could see the sloppy play, etc. Even with Bryz keeping them in the game, you had seen this movie before. I would have liked him to take them to task, though i understand why he was saving it for more a more game-specific situation. Whether it would have made a difference I don't know, but his timeouts usually spark them. |

I'm betting he and everyone else watching thought that they would snap out of it like they have done so many times before. I found myself thinking that maybe Bryz held them in it too long. (only half joking) |
