Ilya Kovalchuk declared himself "ready to go" for Game 3 Thursday night against Philadelphia, while coach Pete DeBoer said he would probably be a game-time decision. "I think with players, these guys know their bodies better than doctors, coaches, anybody else," DeBoer said. "So, it's not me seeing something. It's him knowing what we need out of him and whether he feels his body is capable of giving us that. That's where we're at. Players have to make those decisions." If it comes down to Kovalchuk's call then it looks like he'll play after sitting out Tuesday's contest with a lower-back injury. He skated on the fourth line during the morning skate, but won't play there if he gets the nod to return.
