If there is a slight favourite, it could be argued that the team with the 2012-13 Vezina Trophy winner, the 2012-13 Hart Memorial Trophy winner and the 2012-13 Maurice Richard Trophy on it's roster could be it.
This is also the "home team" and if there is any advantage in being the home team, they'll have it. Also almost half their team is already on location practising and won't have any time zone change/jet lag issues that teams whose whole rosters will be arriving a couple of days at best before the tournament begins. |

Werent the odds posted? Isn't Canada the favorite going into the Olympics? I'm pretty sure they are. Like we said.

That's funny, when I posted the "odds" a number of months ago, everyone here dismissed them because of how they're calculated.............by betting institutions based on previous international tournaments and whatever.
I did not see a clear front-runner to win the tournament when it was announced that NHLers would participate, and I don't see one now.
I am cheering for Canada, but am not going to be nonobjective about it. I will not not be surprised to see the Russians, Americans of Finns win the tournament, as I see them as three of the four teams that should make it to the final two games of the tournament. |

I don't remember anyone talking about previous tournaments. You said Russia was the favorite and went as far as posting the odds. Now that they reflect what we say, and show you're wrong, you backtrack. Now you're saying there isn't a favorite.
Anyone can win a tournament in this format, which is what we've said all along. Canada has the best team, and that makes them the odds on favourite, which is what we've said all along. You continually argued with that, and what we've insisted on all along is now proving to be true. And yet again, you spin and deflect. Your act is very tiresome.

BTW, in 2002', when Canada won the Gold medal, it was an international sized Ice Surface. - RogerRoeper
You're mistaken.
The ice surface used in Salt Lake city was a "hybrid" between International sized ice and North American sized ice.
The Peak arena ice surface was two meters narrower than International sized ice, and about two meters wider than North American sized ice. |

When the first odds were posted, the Russians were slight favourites, then when the odds were updated Canada and were co-favourites.
But again, yourself and other crapped over the odds, claiming they had no base in reality, and insisted that they were useless.
But today you seem to put a lot of faith into the "odds" and IHHF rankings of the teams participating in the tournament.
But that was NOT your tune a few month ago?

Ummmm, noooo. You claimed Russia would be the favorites. And the edge they had in odds then is no different than the edge in odds canada has now. So if you're gonna claim they're cofavourites now, then Russia was never the sole favorite. But that's not the stupidity you chirped back then.
IIHF rankings mean SFA. Absolutely zilch. To anyone with knowledge of how they're compiled they know this.
The odds are pretty damn close to useless also. As said many times, anyone can win in a one game elimination tourney.
As said many times though, canada has the best team and is the favorite. No one has changed their tune other than you.
Honestly, I'm not replying to your stupidity anymore. You need to take a hint, when the fellow fans of your own team are embarrassed by you.

I don't know how you can't understand this.
When the "odds" were first posted by the betting institutions, and the IIHFranked the teams........the Russians were the Favourites, based on the IIHF ranking and the "odds"
Since then the "Odds" have moved a couple of times.
My opinion back then, was that Russians will be the team to beat, NOT because of the "odds" and the IHHF rankings were......but because of a number of factors that I clearly explained to those who asked.
You and others said my opinion was wrong, and that even though the "odds" and IIHF ranking supported my opinion, they were crap and did not count, and that Canada was the clear favourite...............but that was just your opinion.
Now your saying my opinion is wrong because the "odds" and IIHF ranking support your opinion now.
That is depending on which "odds" you are looking at.

So you agree with our friend, that when the Odds were in line with my opinion, the odds did not matter...................but now that some of the odds no longer are in line with my opinion, they are 100% absolute proof that my opinion is totally wrong?
Thought you were a bit deeper than that. - Doppleganger

My opinion is that its a virtual toss up between Canada, Russia, Sweden and the USA with Finland being not too far behind. I would not be the least bit surprised if any of those 5 teams won the gold medal if they played the games in Russia, Canada, Sweden or on the moon. Its pretty wide open and should be a great tourney for hockey fans to enjoy high caliber play. - Cape Breton Bruins

No need to try to make you look wrong, you were wrong.
Canada has not won a men's gold in Olympic hockey, on International sized ice, since 1952 in Oslo.

Now I could ask you if you meant they won "in international ice" or if they won "in Salt Lake"
Or if you meant "on international ice " or if they won "on Salt Lake"
Because as you know the Olympics were held in Salt Lake City, which sits just South east of the Great Salt Lake. |
