“As a practical business matter, for the clubs individually, the Olympics have no tangible positive effect,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly recently said, echoing comments made by Commissioner Bettman and several owners.
Daly pointed out that in the past, NHL television ratings and ticket sales haven’t gone up following the Olympics.
Such statistics back up the claims made by people like Ed Snider that sending NHL players to the Olympics results in almost no positives for the league or its owners. - Doppleganger

we've won three of the last four golds, two of which weren't on NHL ice. |

Fantastic display of dominance with the team peaking at exactly the right time. Toews and Crosby prove why they are winners and Kunitz redeems himself. Canada made use of the big ice better than any other country in the tournament and the gold reflects that. This may have been the best display of defense that I've ever witnessed.
It is unfortunate that Canada didn't get to face Sweden's best but Tavares and Stamkos are not chumps either. |

In the final analysis, will we ever see a better team defensive display then 3 GA in 6 games? |

.5 GAA is insane. 2 shutouts when it mattered most.
Magnificent. |

I think this is as good as it gets in all honesty. I've never seen better at any rate. |

And for all the criticisms of the forwards for not scoring, how many takeaways did they have? How many shifts were spent entirely in the attacking end?
Even though it was big ice, the way we dominated the board-play was dominant. |

I think with them having some of the strongest skaters in the world the open ice really benefitted Canada. |

I guess I was just excited by the unmatched quality of play the Canadians displayed.
But yeah, I may have had a few. I irrelevantly maintain they were irrelevant to the relevance of the post. |

I think the lesson here is that if there's a difference in playing on international ice, that difference can be learned by the best players on earth in under 6 games |

And that when virtually all the best players in the world are used to playing at a high level on smaller ice everyone is basically in the same boat when it comes to having to adjust to the larger ice.
Skill, coaching, luck, etc are all bigger factors.
What else can I repeat that I've already said a million times? I feel I'm not being thorough enough with this crap. |

The most gratifying part of Canada winning gold in such a dominant fashion is the fact the big ice gladiators known as team Russia were nowhere near the gold medal game. |
