I suspect Seabrook is taken, and plays with Keith. He’s better all around than some of the guys you have there, and comes with the advantage of an established pairing (and only 27). I think Myers makes that list ahead of a player or two there. Staal also becoming one of the premiere shutdown guys in the league, gets consideration (but at THIS point in time, I’d go with someone else).
Doughty – Weber
Myers – Pietrangelo
Keith – Seabrook
Letang
When you’ve got what was considered the best D tandem in the league just a couple of years ago, as your third pairing, you know there is some stiff competition. PP goes to Letang – Weber (1st), Pietrangelo –Keith (2nd). Shutdown goes to Pietrangelo – Seabrook, Myers – Weber.
But hey, a lot can change in 2 years, right? - prock
Love Seabrook but he was out of place at the last Olympics. I don't think he'll be included for 2014 but like you said, alot can change

The 2014 games, will be played on International sized ice. Players should be selected with that in mind. It's still way to early to even speculate who'll be on the team, if in fact the NHL decides to screw NHL fans again, by shutting down the league right at one of the most important times in the season. |

Wow. Letting one of the most exciting hockey tournaments in the world go on is “screwing NHL fans”.
Speak for yourself. Because I suspect you’re in the vast minority.

I find hockey on the big ice boring and casual. Not enough hitting and the time and space given makes medicore players look like superstars. I would perfer to see the NHL players go to Russia but wouldn't cry if they didn't. |

I find that most of the lesser teams have a handful of star players.....maybe an NHL caliber goalie, and the rest is filler
I like the tourney. I want the NHL to be there again |

As I said. I don't think you'll find too many people saying NHL players in the Olympics is "screwing" us. |

Yeah, watching Columbus play the Islanders on a random Tuesday night isn't exactly turning my crank
But a team canada with a 4th line that has Mike Richards on it.....that's pretty sweet. |

Well, I guess from the perspective of a fan of a team that fails to make the playoffs on a constant basis, you might be longing to watch and cheer on a team that is playing for something meaningful in the late winter months.
However there are fans of NHL teams that don't like seeing the NHL shutdown at a time when every game means so much towards making the playoffs.
The majority of fans of Hockey in North America follow the NHL, and I would say there is a minority of them that support the shutdown.
If the Olympic hockey tournament did not interfere with the NHL season, I would support NHLers participation in it. - Doppleganger
Are you too stupid to recognize the two Bruins posters saying they support it? |

I think this is a great roster but it is not 100% what I would go with. For starters it is still too early to see if Seguin and Hall will contnue to develop to that star potential.
Secondly I would remove Boyle and Bergeron from the squad. Boyle will be too old and we'd need a bit more size in the form of a shut down player. M.Staal or T.Mylers perhaps?
Third, Bergeron although still a great player IMO is not better than J. Staal as the shut down center. I would rather go with Richards and Staal as a shut down duo.
Final thought is that there are too many right handed D-men.
Stamkos-S.Crosby-C.Giroux
E.Kane-R.Getzlaf-C.Perry
J.Tavares-J.Toews-T.Seguin
M. Richards-J.Staal--R.NAsh
E.Staal
S.Weber-D.Doughty
A.Petriangelo-D.Keith
M.Staal-K.Letang
PK Subban
C.Ward
C.Price
M.Fleury - willey101

Number one I was replying to you, a fan of a team that has not had a sniff at the playoffs for almost a decade, and is probably yearning to watch and support a team that actually has a chance to win something.
Number two, there were lots of NHL owners and fans that were not happy that the NHL Shutdown for the last Olympics, as it does little or nothing for the NHL, and everything for the Olympics.
I'm more invested in seeing my team compete for the Stanley Cup, than the Olympic hockey tournament.
Is there any other Major Pro league in the world, that shuts down for almost three weeks at a critical time of their season, so that some players can compete in a tournament? Why should the Olympic hockey tournament be any better than the World Cup of Hockey, if they bring it back?
Bettman pointed out (last Olympics) that Sochi is "8 time zones away from the Eastern time zone" and (at last Olympics) NBC did not carry a U.S.-Canada game in prime time, but opted to show non-medal ice dancing instead, as it was deemed to bring in higher ratings.
In fact NBC aired exactly one full game (at last Olympics) that being the United States' semifinal victory against Finland. |

Owners yes probably. They have a monetary investment in the players. Fans? Hardly. Its an excellent showcase to present hockey to the world and to have its best players there can only help in that regard.
That being said, I wouldn't be shocked if they don't go in 2014, and to me it wouldn't be because the fans don't want it, it would be because of the timezone and airtime restrictions.

Regardless of who you're replying to, you've got to be a complete moron not to realize that fans of different teams are telling you you're wrong, which negates your point.

You're the only one telling me I'm wrong.
Are you saying I'm not entitled to my opinion, or that somehow it's "wrong"?
BTW, I thought someone could disagree with an opinion, and that all opinions were just that, an opinion.
During the 2006 Olympics, a key Ottawa player sustained a season ending injury that probably cost the Senators a real good shot at the Cup. It was a missed chance that may not come around again for a while.

So basically this boils down to you being bitter over that one incident and trying to make it seem as if there are other fans who feel the same way.

Yeah, I don't know if there's a terrific argument for choosing Seguin over Eberle. Unless Eberle hangs around a 70 point pace the next year and a half and Seguin hits close to 90. Can't predict that, so for now it's Eberle. |
