Actually, he reminds me more of Leighton.
Big. Not that mobile. Not athletic. Poor stick handler. Has a hard time rebounding to his feet once he's down. Very inconsistent. - 77rams
and Homer gave him that contract? talk about desperation |

This team is like a kid in high school that can't do their homework unless it's due in about 10 minutes (I know I was that kid and yes i worked on the next class's hw constantly in the preceeding class. I often said it's classwork not homework). There's a ton of mental mistakes going on out in that mess. Give the Devils their due they aren't making any, hence the 2-1 lead. My gosh where's the second and third efforts on Brodeur, traffic in front of the net, etc. Oh yea and the piss poor line change. Well I thought they'd get it done in 5 games guess it's gonna take 6 maybe 7 now. - JoeRussomanno
I still can't believe that change. Gust skating to the bench as the devils gain control. All they need is a split. Get to work on Sunday. Lava has 2 days to diagnose this. A big moment in his coaching time here |

this could happen, LA looks very good right now - Marc D
I agree... it could very well happen. Right now, I don't know if we can beat NYR even if we make it that far. If it's NYR vs LA, I am taking LA. |

I cannot blame bryz. I just want my goalie to not lose games. He hasn't stole one. But he hasnt lost one either |

It might help it we didn;t leave Parise all alone to his blindside and then a 2 on 1 in ot but what the hay he has a big contract which means his father's name was Jorrel and the only thing that should get past him is a green rock radiating a strange energy. |

He hasn't looked that bad though. Not as good as when he was on fire in March, but if you let quality scoring chances pile up, some are going to get through. Regardless of the goalie. He's kept them in a lot of games this post season. The numbers obviously aren't there, but he's made a lot of difficult, clutch saves. |

bryz is an upgrade of what we had last year, think back.......remember the torture we went thru as fans with the goalie switching, bob demotion, leighton awol and a sweep by the bruins.
this is great playoff hockey, this is how it goes...up and down hills, i cant wait till the next game cuz i really beleive it will be our "down the hill" turning game.
the whole team has been outworked, the devils are thriving as the underdogs and we need to remind them that they are just that, the underdogs.
i see us doing to them on sunday, what the pens did to us in game 4, 2 days off in both cenerios, a little embarrased and very pissed at the same time, there faces after the game spoke multitudes. |

That's impossible there was more than that. Must be the same people that said the flyers blocked 40 shots in game 6 against the pens. |

Thank you and I'm done for the day with goaltending. Takes much less effort to point the finger there.

It's just not one player who should be singled out. Except for the last two periods in game 1, the team hasn't stepped up. |

Any news on Cooter?
Also, I still think we can win this series. They won game 1 and I think we thought it'd be a walk. We played terrible in game 2 and so so last night. I am hoping they wake up like they did in game 6 vs Pitt. - Hextall271
it's weird -- I'm still so confident because we haven't played anywhere close to our best game yet and we almost won last night and we won game 1. If we can just show up and play the way we know how, we should beat them. Until then, The devils will just keep dictating play and we will just sit back and watch......that's the frustrating part. |

You could put Henrik Lundqvist on this team and they'd still have the same problem. |

you'd be saying the same thing about smith here and smith's track record was a lot worse than Bryzgalov's. In fact what you should be realizing is any goalie can look better if you backcheck for him. That might actually take some sort of thought process. |

Parise is out playing our best player, he looks dynamic every shift and dangerous.
Flyers PP runs through Giroux and right now his decisions with the puck have not been good.
Devils are taking good advantage of the Flyers defenseman trend to throw pucks backward behind the net, they have scored a bunch of goals coming of mishandles from behind the goal line.
Grossmann has been ineffective since coming back. Bad timed pinches on the offensive blue line and the blown coverage on the Kovy goal.
Would have liked Bryz to stop that first goal, Elias's shot bounced off his body before going in. He had no chance on Kovy's, and would have liked him to have stopped Parise's. He did make some very big saves, timely ones too in game three. I'm not blaming him for the loss.
Jvr better learn a two way game soon. His offensive game is way too streaky for him to just be a one way player.
Losing Couts was huge, it costs them their depth advantage rolling 4 lines. Talbot was largely invisible without the 19 yo next to him.
If Wellwood could finish he'd be making 5+M a year. Sigh.
Jake has been great. If Giroux/Jagr can get going they can still win this series. |

The bad line change that helped end the game was a microcosm of the casualness of the Flyers for much of this series. Too much coasting, standing around, bad decisions and fumbling the puck has cost them dearly.
For the life of me I can't figure out why they seem to be constantly caught flat footed in their own zone. The Devils are being extremely aggressive on their forecheck, and yet it seems that every shift it comes as a complete surprise to the Flyers.
I never thought I'd say this again after the Pens series, but maybe we need Rinaldo in the lineup somehow. A shot of rambunctiousness and emotion would come in handy. That, and MUCH quicker puck movement.
Having said all that, I liked our play in the 2nd and 3rd periods, and especially OT. They were thisclose to winning the game on Schenn's deflection.
If they'd get back to quicker puck movement and not passing up shots they'll win this series. Game 4 = game 7. |
