On Sunday, what would be best is to crush their enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentation of their women. - BulliesPhan87
I was saving that for the elimination game (#6) |

I'm in no way shape or form a Carle hater, but that play right there added fuel to the fire against him, yes. Also Yes I Blame him for that goal. I don't care what system, style etc. YOu don't let an opposing forward go into that position unchecked. If he had at least checked Parise I doubt that goes in and if it had then I'll shift blame back onto the goalie. I really wish they would have asked him what he was thinking on that play. - JoeRussomanno
he's certainly responsible in part for the goal. i would have liked him to pin the puck and wait for some help instead of poking it to his partner (forget who it was) who was in a bad spot. the biggest fail is that he didn't take parise at the net. he stopped and waited for the puck to come back to him instead of continuing to move. poor anticipation and he got caught watching. if he covers parise, that goal probably doesn't happen. |

It started before that, Matt Carle made a bad play with the puck in the neutral zone that started the whole mess. |

Do the Flyers have to hate a team to beat them?
Isn't hating losing enough? - 77rams
I was speaking only for myself, as a fan. But you may have something here. The Devs are killing them softly by not giving them much to get worked up over. Maybe Lavy should play the goalie interference call over and over again and work up some HATE, if thats the fuel they need.
Why can't they play like the last game in the regular season where they played 60 mins, were solid defensively, and won 3-0? |

Still bummed about last night's loss. My first in attendance at the Rock.
But I can honestly say that we STILL haven't seen anything close the the Flyers best effort. I don't know what it is. Maybe they thrive off the pressure or maybe they need more controversy. But they just seem content.
From my view last night- strongest players were Jake (though I was furious when he had puck control for like 20s on the PP and DIDN'T EVEN PUT THE PUCK TOWARDS THE NET!!!) and Coburn.
On a different note. I really enjoyed the Club seats last night. I was behind the Flyers bench so it was cool to see the players reaction's after their shift. Like when jake had his hands on his head in complete disbelief after the Schenn tip in OT. Lots of food, cookies, sushi, burgers drinks galore. Not bad.
I will say that after watching a game from there i MUCH prefer our usual Wells Fargo seats behind Bryz. There is something about having the whole ice in front of you that i like better.
Must win sunday. Gotta give it everything, and need G to step up HUGE!

what do you think of maybe putting rinaldo back in the lineup to get some sparks going out there? - JoeRussomanno
who will you take out...
i know he will bring you energy but who are you sitting...
Wellwood has been great on the 4th line...if Coots cannot go i would insert Holmstrom or Rinaldo. |

he did do all that other stuff before but he compounded it all by letting Parise skate free. I can forgive all the other stuff but that last sequence ugh no that's just not excusable. |

What did you think of the non call on the Devils player rolling into Bryz when Kovy rang his shot off the post?
That goal would have counted. - Marc D
Missed it. |

It was Lilja which compounds the play, because Lilja is not a good puck mover.
Elias and the Devils have been very opportunistic on their aggressive forecheck, especially against the Flyers weaker defenseman.
Having Lilja/Gusty out with the Briere/Jvr line is a recipe for a prolonged Devils cycle. |

I like JVR's size even with him getting back in shape.
I just don't think you can scratch Jagr...but i understand why you would want too.
At the same time, as much as I like Rinaldo's energy i don't trust the officiating. |

I think Lilja is playing fine...Gus had a tough game. Looks like the game is too fast for him last night. a few times where he had outlets he seemed to freeze on the boards and the Devils attacked. |

I would never scratch Jagr for Rinaldo thats beyond missing chromosomes, he's just frustrating me this series.
I would consider sitting JVR though. Lavy did it in 2010 between him and Carcillo I believe. |

Outsiders view of what the Flyers need to do in Game 4...
Within the first 5 minutes Hartnell or Simmonds, hell you have 7 different players I could put here, needs to take the puck to the net hard with the intention of getting contact on Brodeur, not scoring. Then everyone needs to jump in to his defense and start a melee.
You will undoubtedly need to kill an early penalty but the Flyers need to create emotion somehow. The Devils aren't responding to anything and because of that the Flyers are just going through the motions. Force them to respond. |

Endless lost one on one battles. Time after time you had Flyers receiving the initial outlet pass somewhere in the neutral zone while STANDING STILL, thus allowing a Devil to be on them almost immediately.
Time after time they were met at the blue line and instead of going up the boards with the puck they would try to force a pass in to the middle that got intercepted or deflected.
Time after time they would dump the puck in and have no other forward entering the zone with speed, thus getting beaten easily to the puck either by a Devil d-man or Broduer himself. And when they DID get to the puck, they would lose the ensuing battle pretty quickly and decisively.
In the first and third they werent skating with any kind of urgency.
What the heck happened to these guys? |

at this point i don't think it's personel it's more mental and getting up for the game. i hate to use the word but whoever plays with more desperation wins...
right now it's not the Flyers |

definitely concur about the mental aspect. That's why i think maybe a lineup tweak pushes a button. |
