Getting sick of the Faksa love yet? - Brian Huddle
Nah, you like who you like man. The thing about being "the prospects guy" is you have to pick your guys. Everyone has a list. I have the guys I like too. Any fool can read various sites to give themselves "real" opinions on these kids. If you just conformed to using someone else's list all the time and didn't make your own opinions based on what you see, your opinions, and your entire reason for being on Hockeybuzz, would be pointless.
EDIT: but it won't stop me from poking fun at you from time to time about your clear love affair with him |

Yakupov is the clear cut number 1. I know this is just your opinion but by putting him number 2 you are making yourself look like Button on tsn. That guy is clueless. |

Where do you see Taro Tsujimoto being picked? - senstroll
I would be shocked if he were still on the table in round 7.
would be a pretty happy camper to pick up Olli Maata, the guy looks smart out there and you can't always teach that. |

Yakupov isn't completely a super safe pick either. |

Button is ahead of the curve a lot. He tends to pick out guys before the other scouting agencies clue in. He's got some weird views, but you'd be surprised to know that most NHL Teams have lists that are completely different.
Toronto's likely has guys higher up that are dripping with character, grit, size, while Detroit would higher rank players who could deke inside a phonebooth and then Vancouver would have guys who they think are a higher "CORSI" types towards the top. Even Bobby Mac said that something like 8 out of 10 teams he asked had Yak at 1, but not all 10. |

Well I like Wilson and your boy Heard, but I like them because they aren't pretenders. I just don't care for kids like Rupert. He's just a lot of fluff and over-reaction in my opinion. Not surprising that a player I care for less in Cousins got two handed by one of the Ruperts, they deserve one another. |

Think that's a pretty interesting list. Can see how you value centers just a bit more over the wingers. Do think that's a bit high for Galchenyuk though not like I don't think he'll be in the top 5. You certainly can never have enough skilled centers, you need skilled wingers too. Don't think there's that much debate for the Oilers. Either move down a bit or just take Yakupov.
Do think 4 is a bit high for Faksa too. He's definitely climbed up the rankings, but not sure he'll end up that high in the end. Curious to see where he goes though.
Of course curious to see where things end up going for the Leafs. Since lists don't exactly translate to what teams will decide to do. |

Rupert needs to tone it down, but playing for Hunter won't do that. An NHL team can clean him up. Leafs have had to do similar with Ross, who was starting to get that Matt Cooke type reputation in the Dub.
I just like players who can step over the line every so often, and do a little "ape". I think it puts legit fear into other players and makes them play a bit different. But they have to learn to control that emotion when crossing the edge.
It's why I loved Darcy Tucker, and still do. (And I know you'll hate him) |

You know what, I don't hate Tucker. Tucker backed up what he did, its the guys who don't that I hate. The pretenders and the dirtbags. |

At the end of the day, no one is perfect, right? Prospects all come down to opinions. I like Faksa, some don't. Some love Subban... I don't.

Rupert will, and has. But yea, not enough. I just love that skill to go with that edge. Under the right toutelage, he could be something. We'll see.
I hate Nurse, but I love some of the taunting he does to home crowds. Makes me laugh.

Hmm. Wonder if the possible second coming of Stephan Matteau, his son Stefan, will make his way to the Hawks? |

A classify him more as a dirtbag than as a pretender... for the record. |

IMO, that's Hunter's coaching coming out. Especially since he lives in Dale's house.
He's a genuinely good kid who loves hockey more than most OHL'ers I've met in the past couple years. |

Right now, assuming no changes, this is the order I think the draft goes.
Oilers - Yakupov (its the pick)
Columbus - Galchenyuk Could go either way but I get the offensive upside is too much to pass up. Plus, they were likely around Sarnia a lot and got to know the kid, who's habits off the ice make him even a better package.
Montreal - Grigorenko by default the Habs get the bigger center. Quebec is just down the road, Timmins probably saw this kid enough to say it works for him.
NY Isles - Murray Excellent pick for the Isles who need to solidify the back end. Murray is about as can't miss as any in the draft.
Toronto - Forsberg I get the feeling he isn't the pick that they wanted, but he fills the void of their needs.
Anaheim - Dumba Loss of Justin puts a vacancy on prospect high end defenders. Dumba has the potential to be a kid looked back as the dark horse and Anaheim won't pass it up
Minnesota - Trouba Minnesota kid with excellent hockey sense and talent, fits the bill with the flock of young top 6 forwards on their way from the Wild's prospect vault.
Carolina - Faksa Rutherford loves him some Kitchener Rangers and Faksa is no different. potential 2nd line center with the versatility to slide onto the wing. Offers a fun combination of size and skill.
Winnipeg - Reinhart I kind of want to pick Gaunce here but I'll go with the big rugged blueliner.
Tampa - Reilly I think Tampa would be jacked to get Reilly here as a slick playmaking D to really help ignite the offense from the back end, something they are clearly lacking going forward. Pick almost makes itself. |
