For me its not about the points with him.
Its how much he tries.
He has games where he doesnt get the goals but he hustles on both ends of the ice.
Other times, and far too often he has games where he looks on the ice.
He needs to bring the effort. A guy like Voracek doesnt bring it every game. Nor does he continously get points. However he brings the effort more often than naught. Thats what I thought this years off-season changes were about. - flyer_nutter

Thats where the difference lies.
In terms of pointing out players or whatever.
Some mistakes are larger than others, and lead to goals against. - flyer_nutter
As you said, it's about effort, and JVR didn't seem to put much into the game and it cost us. I'm ok if a player gets burned so long as he steps up his game and tries to make it right. JVR didn't, he was as polite as a mouse tonight. |

Guess the Flyers are going to have to play 3 perfect games in a row now. |

Get ready for game 7 on Saturday. As bad as they've been the last 2 games, they've only been beaten by 1. Bryz will continue his play, if the teams plays halfway decent, they'll win. Im not giving up on this team team even though many of the half wits that post here are. |

The entire teams' compete level needs to be better. Have this team get a forecheck going and play in the other teams end for a while, and pressure their defense with a constant forecheck. And see how good NJ defenseman look, and how much better ours would look. This is a team game. And the Flyers are getting beat team wide. Man to man. I see mistakes made by Coburn, Grossmann, Timonen, etc. Carle has made mistakes. Everyone on the team has. - MJL

It would be just fitting for this team to do so.
Ive said it before that this team is like that gf who is heaven on the eyes and hell on the heart. |

I'd prefer to think of myself as a no-wit.
However I do still believe they could come back and win. Unlikely. Yet still possible. |

Fail
If you mean skating harder and beating the flyers to areas of the ice then yes that's interference in your warped view of the game. - bird_dog
I definitely think the Devils are outworking the Flyers... can that really be debated after these last three games? But does that mean someone who is not carrying the puck getting in the way of the opposition is not interference? |

It does seem as though the Devils are doing just enough interference and/or hooking to get away with it, but not long enough to get called.
Other things I've seen is them purposely jumping in the skating lane of flyers players. Not sure why this isnt being called. Surprised this hasnt been talked about by media - sdflyerfan
Shielding happens all the time. Pronger was exceptionally good at it. He always got in the way at just the right time and made the other guy work just that little bit harder. Also, let's change the game to have no checking or touching even. |

I'm not counting them out until they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. You just never know whats going to happen. |

Your allowed to get in their way, as long as there is no contact when a player doesn't have the puck.

Good points Nutter. You are right, it isn't just about points, it's also about his work ethic and commitment to playing in his own end. He must starting improving dramatically in those aspects as well. |

For what it's worth Bob Mac who is usually spot on believes Giroux will be suspended. Perhaps a blessing in disguise. I'm sure his teammates won't allow his season to end while he's sitting in a press box.

Yeah, I guess it does sound like whining if its coming from the players.
However, if it was coming from the coaches, it'd be gamesmanship.... and maybe get us a call - sdflyerfan
Its too ticky-tacky imo. Also, too late now. People would just laugh at Lavy if he brings up something like that after a game where the first 2 periods were played like a powerplay. |

Inconsistency. It drives coaches and GM's batty. It's also not easy for young guys to find at the NHL level. Unfortunately that might be a word that sticks with him. Hopefully he finds it next season. |

Kovalchuk didn't play game 2, Devils did ok, James Neal was out for Game 4, Devils and Pens rallied around that and went out and kicked ass. I expect the Flyers to do the same thing if they are in the same position. |
