I'm trying to come up with a response to any of these posts, but I can't even begin to wrap my mind around salary cap logic. Somewhere between the disappointment of last night and the lack of AC in the office today - BulliesPhan87
How warm is it down in Philly right now? Its a cool 65 here in Buffalo so the AC isnt on at the office yet.

About 70 right now, but it's worse for the lack of ventilation. I think it's due to electrical work on the building attached to us. What's worse is I'm in the middle of the building, no windows anywhere near me.

You lack fun, sir. - BulliesPhan87
Oh trust me I'm all about fun. But that kind of fun to me involves rooting through my kids toybox to find an activity to do with adult friends, no thanks.
Listening to some dutch guy say doop over and over is a travesty and blasphemy to all I hold sacred in sports. I might not even go to a game next year if they don't change that damn thing.
First of all, the cap is bullcrap anyway. To me its like people wanting a socialist government when the economy is bad.
Second, there are risks involved with every signing but I don't think a franchise should be eternally punished due to injury. - JoeRussomanno
I like the cap, but that's another discussion. Back to the topic of long term deals.
You're not eternally punished, you're only punished for how long you signed the player.
Then let the team buy him out and he can retire without it affecting their cap. i don't think it's fair a team has to be stuck with a guy for multiple seasons against their cap if he can't play. - JoeRussomanno
With the off season 10% exemption and the LTIR exemption, it doesn't really affect them. Does a buy out include the player getting paid the full amount of what's left on his deal. If not why would the player agree to it?

I'm not going to prolong this nonsensical debate, because it's just a damn goal song, but you really, really, really take it too seriously. I have a sincerely difficult time understanding how #doop is supreme sacrilege after years, decades even, of t-shirt launchers, car give away contests, half time shows, dancing fat guys, kiss cams, 'find the puck' games, and all the other ridiculum that goes on at every momentary pause of every single sports event on at least this continent.

I'm not exactly drooling over any of that other stuff either. Look at it this way. The opposing team is suppossed to be faced with a certain level of hostility/intimidation however trivial one perceives it. They are not suppossed to be left with, Oh we just let these guys score on us to dance around to that ass clown anthem, ah Hell no!
I think people who don't understand this really lost sight of what playing at home is supposed to be. There's no denying no one is scared to play the Flyers at home anymore. Years ago that was not the case. That song to me symbolizes what is wrong with the home ice advantage or lack thereoff for this team. But hey its only a game, right?

Sure pay him out. I don't care what the teams pay these players, I'm only concerned with the cap even though I hate it. To me all the cap does is justify an over extended league.

It must be the goal song. If only we had a frightening goal song like the eternally ubiquitous Rock and Roll pt 2 (well, frightening to parents of small children perhaps) or Chelsea Dagger. Give me a break.
Wait a minute, I thought I said "I wasn't prolonging this". I'll have to take myself to task for my nonsense

now you took what I said and exaggerated. It's not the goal song that's not what I'm saying. RnR2 is overplayed and old. They need more sandpaper is all I'm saying not hugging teddy bears and blowing bubbles.
Edit Chelsea dagger is more annoying than Doop imo actually.

If you can buy a player out without an penalty to the Cap, why have a Cap? It defeats the entire purpose.

Not if the player has suffered a career ending injury it's not.

I'm just pointing out that very rarely are goal songs, nor any in house antics, intimidating.

The crowd in the old spectrum especially yes was and could be very intimidating. I believe some of the old Oilers mentioned that on several occasions. None of this glow sticks through my nose techno crap in those days. I'm talking about the old days,... ah I'll let marv tell ya

If it's a legitimate injury, sure. But it's the can of worms that it opens. And that's really about HRR accounting, more so then punishing a team. That's why there are mechanisms in place to deal with it.

I wasn't talking about the crowd, nor the building. And I've not seen anybody blowing bubbles, digging through toy boxes, carrying glow sticks, nor cheering any less loudly for their team this season. The Flyers fan base continues to be as loud and passionate as it was when Bro Hymn and its predecessors heralded a tally for the home team. I don't need no sepia shaded memories to know that.

I see what your saying, only allow players that have a career ending injury removed from the cap as a result of retiring... But how many players does this actually effect?
And how would you keep teams honest and not circumventing hte cap.. Like if the Flyers give Jagr a 3 year contract for a 1.5 million cap hit, but he retires after next season because of "bad knees"?
Not saying the hit was clean (it absolutely wasn't), but seriously. After the Weber and Neal bullpoop, that's worth a game? Are you (frank)ing kidding me?

best part of watching the video of it is hearing the crowd chant for marty while he handles the puck outside of the trapezoid
