Okay let me make this easier, who is the next goat? just curious. - JoeRussomanno
I'm just detaching myself emotionally from a guy i like and think is a good player. But the minutes he's had to play (and covering up for Gusty doesn't help) have been MASSIVE, and nobody short of a Prongs, Weber, ewtc can handle them.
I'd love to see him signed, but I couldn't justify a dime more than 3.25mm for him.
Scapegoat replacement? hmmm....... Timmo, he hasnt' much left in the tank and a 6.33mm cap hit, that has a tendency to rub people the wrong way.... |

ya know what, i'm over it. on its face the hit deserved a game. his history and star status should have helped, but puzzlingly didn't. much worse went unpunished. but what can ya do? we're not winning this series with or without him. good luck to the devils in the next round. - flyerscup2011
Dont give up the Flyers are very capable of winning three straight. Right now it doesnt look like it but anything can happen. |

Is about 59.55 mil in cap dollars
Thats no Pronger or Carle or Jagr next year. Figure Pronger would be LTC and they go up to 10% past cap before season starts. This past year was $64 million. - sulshawn
That defense terrifies me.
For all the complaining about Carle, he's been mostly effective. The Flyers and Devils have been almost even in shots against when Carle's been on the ice, and there's a huge disparity in shots against when he's not out there.
It's not the end of the world if Carle moves on, but replacing him with Gustafsson isn;t a step forward |

If this is a sign that Shanahan is indeed serious and will rule without prejudice on the player's name, then I'll be the first to applaud him for suspending Giroux.
But, I'm not going to hold my breath. Not when Alexander Ovechkin, a repeat offender, can leave his feet just 24 hours prior to Giroux's hit, make primary contact with the head of Dan Girardi and get nothing from Shanahan.
People can mention Weber and Malkin all they want, but those things happened a week or two ago. Ovechkin's hit to Girardi's head happened the day before Giroux's hit to Zubrus' head.
Giroux deserved to get suspended, but so did Ovechkin. - Jsaquella
very well said, as i've come to expect from you. |

Then let the team buy him out and he can retire without it affecting their cap. i don't think it's fair a team has to be stuck with a guy for multiple seasons against their cap if he can't play. - JoeRussomanno
And except for the summer, when they can go 10% over anyway, he is LTIR'd and doesn't, in effect, show up on the cap. |

There's no way Homer replaces Carle with Gus. He will find a very reliable replacement (he always does). |

Exactly, we've seen what happens when Lilja and Gusty are together, god forbid in the second period (long change) and we panic change a game/series away over it.
JVR is not a 3rd liner, shouldn't get those mins and will never flourish there. He's a talented kid who needs a change of scenery. Send him, Bourdon/Gusty, Wellwood and a bevy of 1sts to NSH for Weber. Do it monkeys. Do it. |

No excuses. Get it done. They have to start playing better. This team didnt just get injured. Guys have been playing with injuries but they had a week off to rest. Their getting handled because they cant adjust to the pressure. |

It;s still a contract on the roster. Remember at the deadline when they had to move salaries? I think it's just wasteful to not be allowed to buy him out if he can;t play anymore without cap restrictions. |

Oh and you're wrong anyways, The intent (if you actually watch the Shanny video) comes from him turning around to yell at the ref over Marty's little out of the trapezoid act. (which shanny missed and attributed to G getting bumped earlier on the shift).
THAT is where the intent comes from. I guess when it's not your guy or your team you don't care about how or why just that it happened, isn't going to change, and likely clinched the series for you (which your team has earned by outworking us in every facet of the game) - Ferrarimn7
I have to laugh at people getting mad at zippy, who's been here all along and talks hockey. There are plenty of Flyers fans who saw intent and a lack of discipline on the play. It's not limited to non-Flyer fans.

it's not the devils' pressure, they're playing at what would be the flyers' b+ game, flyers are only capable of their c+ game. basically the flyers don't have enough in the tank and i've just come to accept that. if they weren't that banged up they'd have played harder. lava demands it, they want to win a championship. |

You're not going to get Weber for JVR, a mid to late first rounder, and a couple of rookie spare parts. Not in a million years. |

Yeah, what kind of idiot (who didn't spend all day in here) would think a devils fan saying he agrees with the suspension is a troll. What a Moron I am.... |
