He's also quite a bit better than what the Flyers have on hand to replace him. Want Erik Gustafsson playing 22 minutes a night next year? I don't. That means you either re-sign Carle or replace him via a trade or free agency. Either way you're going to trade significant assets or take on a sizeable cap hit. - Jsaquella
Carle for Martin. Let's see who's worse. |

I am aware of the NMC. I should have been clear that this is the perfect state. Briere doesn't really dominate, even when he scores. He is a nice player, but not a 6.5m player. Really, a 6.5m player to me is a Chara or Stamkos or something in that neighborhood.
Who replaces Carle? I don't get that joke. Carle is to Pronger as Seidenberg is to Chara. A nice player when paired with an elite D-man. Its like a baked potato and a nice steak. No one gives a crap about the potato without the steak. - Daman
Have you ever looked at any of the facts? Because the facts disagree with you. Carle actually has better numbers and production without Pronger then with him. And this notion that Carle needs to be with an elite D man to be effective, is a myth.

Stop it with the food humor people! Seriously, the problem is we've got a peanut butter sandwich right now. What we need is to get some jam on it! |

Martin is fine if you have a tight system like the Devils use. Unless I'm wrong, the Flyers don't have that |

There's one in Philly, one in King Of Prussia(about 30 minutes west of Philly) and one in Atlantic City, which is nearer to me. I have been to the one in Philly and the one in AC...fantastic steaks. |

Fow what, dominating? I watched that game but missed the end, did he throw at someone? That guy is going to be a big loss, can't see how the Phils can afford him. |

If he had said that, he probably doesn't get anything. As it is, he probably won't miss a single start |

Giroux's actions show frustration which carried on into the hit. The frustration doesn't give him any right to target Zubrus' hit. He clearly came up with the shoulder primarily making contact with the head of Zubrus. It was a sideways hit from the blindside, it wasn't like a shoulder to chest which also made contact with the head. Whether you like it or not, the call should be made. I agree with you on the precedent, but he has to start somewhere and you have to hope this is where it begins. - _Zippy_
He should have just left the frustration out of it. If a guy does something violent where there is significant prior danger of the head being hit, and if the head is actually hit, and the puck is not in immediate vicinity and if it was not in self-defense etc. then there should be fines/suspensions etc. But by bringing in frustration, yelling at refs, whether said act resulted in injury or not, he has just muddied the waters.
