with Pronger's situation and the contract status of Carle and Kubina (who obviously won't be back), the flyers definitely have some work to do on the back end. - nastyflyergirl
They do, but they have a lot of options. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade at the draft if they can't get Carle re-signed to a deal by then. |

Do you think that the Coaching staff is not aware that they have to keep the puck away from Brodeur on the dump ins? The fans, the announcers, are all talking about it. The Coaches aren't? Is it the Coaches aren't making adjustments, or that they players are not executing the adjustments? I think it's the latter. Regardless of how the Coaches make adjustments, it has to be backed up by the players on the ice. Or it is worthless. This Series is not a Coaching issue. - MJL
IDK, I was just speaking from my point of view.
I would imagine, yes, that the coach is making changes.
Like Jsaq has stated, it isn't any one thing and I am aware of that.
I was simply putting a point of view out there. Not saying my point of view is the end all be all.
Bryz was a rock star last night.

He was the man last night for sure. After the Devils third goal I thought we were going to see a Cechmanek style flip out. - Scoob
And I wouldn't have had a problem with that.
Bryz will get ripped royally by the lazy fans when this series is over. Those that get their opinions spoon fed to them by WIP.
Bottom line is that we are already in the off season if not for him. It just goes to show you how much impact a goalie can have on a series, because the scores of these games have been a lot closer than they should be. These games have been blowouts on everything but the scoreboard. |

That work is going to extend beyond this postseason, methinks, but there's definitely work to be done on the blueline. |

I haven't really thought that deeply about it.
My off the cuff guess would be JvR, based on the size of his cap hit compared to Schenn, Voracek and Simmonds. They're likely to have to add a mid sized cap hit back and JvR's salary going out best accomodates that. |

Either way, Homer has a lot of work to do on the back end this off season.

cant blame the goalie this year, is it me or does our team look really small to the devils?
where has simmonds, jvr, hartnell, jagr's size gone? grosman doesent even look as physically big as he did. - mydoglicks
I really think the Flyers size has been a factor in this series yes. The devils have two guys up front and two on their blueline that are under 6 foot. This isn;t the sole reason but when you're racing for the puck and the other guy has about six inches of reach on you, yea that matters. Also the devils have just been imposing their will on the Flyers throughout most of this series.
Perhaps with experience some of these younger players will learn to adapt to this as that is possible. However I just feel like the Canadiens in our ECF's match couple years ago. |

I know he is the first one mentioned all the time. i still don't want to see him moved.
speaking of Simmonds, I know he is a complimentary player on this team but I have to admit I have been very disappointed and frustrated with his play. |

Barkan tried to imply that he did on the postgame show. THey show him sitting upright in the crease while a pile of players pick themselves up after the whistle and then start making assumptions as to what he's thinking. On another play they show him holding his blocker hand up, during the game I thought I heard Albert say something to the effect of him using that hand to freeze the puck. But nope during the post-game Barkaan knew that was because Bryz was telling off the team.
All I'm gonna say is, we've been shown clips of players getting frustrated with him, now when it matters most and they are playing like poop we wanna nit-pick how the goalie is reacting to his team's sub-play... interesting. |

If he gets pissed it shows me he cares. I've never really seen the problem with that stuff. If the players don't like it, try harder |

THe only thing I've noticed that could be attributed to the coaching staff is the constant defensive coverage breakdowns. It's probably just the players but imo that flaw is the biggest thing getting them killed right now. Can't keep worrying about circling up ice to go get offense. Especially with a lead. Clamp down defend the fort and when you get the puck then start heading back up ice. I don't know why it is so hard especially during 5 on 5 play to make sure no one is running free. The Devils aren't letting the Flyers do it and look how that's working out. They are making Boredeur look like his old Vezina winning self. Ugh it is frustrating. |

I haven't noticed any of this "pick", obstructing, etc. stuff everyone is talking about. When are the Devils doing? Looks to me like the Flyers simply need to try harder. |

Honest question, how does that violate the CoC? I know its ridiculous thing to say but within the rules of HB no? |

I've nongoalie players get pissed all the time. Now when the hardest position to play is showing frustration it's a big deal. I find this intriguing. not really but you get my point I think.
I'm with you though yes I even prefer the pissed off Bryz to the ho hum monkeys and rocket ships Bryz. |

Does anyone think that maybe it has to do with the Flyers and how they were in such a physically demanding and draing series, while the Devils were in a much less of a demanding one.
The Flyers just seem to be out of gas. IMO I think RD 1 matchup played a lot into how this series is turning out.

More a style than a particular name. Assuming Carle is gone, I feel they need to replace him. So, a good puck mover that isn't a liability in his own end. It'd be nice to get a guy with a big shot, as well. |

Barkann is an assclown. If you rely on him for sports coverage than you should watch quilting. |

Again, I'm quite positive that the Coaching staff addresses the defensive coverage issues. Look, this isn't a tight checking defensive team. It is an aggressive puck pressure, forechecking offensive team. They aren't skating like they should, or winning the battles. When they spend a lot of time in their own end, they breakdown. Look at the game winning goal. Look at the front of the net. You wouldn't see that much open ice with the Rangers or the Devils. |

I wasn't watching for him exclusively but I had to endure it to hear what Clement and Tocchet had to say about the actual hockey that was played. |
