I'm way late to the party but I want to give my thoughts on G. The suspension is completely deserved. Yes, the NHL is inconsishtent and it's a disgrace. But you don't put yourself in the position to have a situation like this. This is all on G. The play was selfish and stupid. He really let the team down. What needs to happen now, is that the rest of the players rally around this and bail him out.
As I posted last night, I fully believe if they play halfway decent, they will go to a game7

That seems to be the consensus here.

Suspension aside, they didn't need to start the 3rd on a PK.

it sure was. he was deep in the net, didn't expect the turnover or challenge when it happened and leaned/slid to the right. even the greatest goalies of all-time, like captain shoulder pads himself, can get beat on a point blank chance.

Keen's in nyc. Not a chain. A very old coaching inn a short walk from MSG. Food's great, atmosphere is amazing.
Morton's

I find drenching steaks in butter to be unnecessary. The grade of steak you're eating in these places sure don't need MORE fat.

will have to try that sometime. same as peter lueger's. never been, but i buy their sauce for my own steaks at home.

i've been to mortn's once, in montreal, and it's was ok. same kind of experience i had a smith +wollensky. meh.

You know, I have a problem with the Flyers again not having practice today. (They didn't Friday, either). It's not like they have to have a big time bag skate, that's counterproductive. But they had so much time off between series and they've played so lackadaisically in this series it's hard for me to believe they don't have the energy to practice. Especially when the lines are being shuffled so much, wouldn't working on timing with each other help at all?

i disagree. he's not a guy who will come to the bottom of the circle, but he's learned to push out and challenge in certain situations, rather than sit back and hold his ground, which he did there.

The one time I went to Morton's in Philly was after a Flyers game. I've never been out to eat at 10pm before. Maybe I was just really hungry by then. But the experience was a very nice one. Not a fan of Smith & Wollensky or Del Frisco's at all. (And I would never have eaten in any of these places if I weren't going as a guest of a vendor!)

I've rarely seen him even at the top of his crease, but admittedly I don't watch the Rangers much.

I wondered that myself, given that execution is their biggest issue right now. Seems counter productive, especially since Giroux's absence will necessitate more juggling.

They could have worked on, oh, getting the puck out of the zone cleanly and quickly.

Or have a dump in contest where you're eliminated unless you can put the puck in a corner.

Keen's has a gentlemen's clubby feel. Dark. Wood paneling. The no-reservation pub room has a fireplace. The ceilings are lined with old clay pipes. Back in the day, when a gentleman traveled frequently by coach or on horseback along the east coast, he'd keep a clay pipe at Keen's (where he'd stay or stop along his route) because the pipes were very fragile (much like storing your cigars or wine at a favorite restaurant). So now they have probably thousands of these clay pipes lining the ceilings. It's cool.

i've been to del frisco's once, and i thought it was excellent. it was an early dinner...so maybe that rivals a late dinner experience - more focus.

there's a new steak place called reserve that opened in old city. supposedly excellent.

The only thing I can imagine is that the injured guys wouldn't practice and then everyone would know who they are. But....

i watch them a lot, and he does stay inside the crease a lot. i was just saying that in certain situations he's learned to be more aggressive. it might have something to do with being trained on international ice. the euro goalies tend to play deep in the net because of the wide ice and deep space behind the net.

That floated across my head, too, but still seems counter productive. They have issues to fix, and talking is not going to help the big one.

just work hard, and have some laughs. shake off the stink of yesterday and get ready for tomorrow. nothing left to lose but the season - might as well give it your best.

That's got to be the way to approach it at this point. Can't worry about being tight, just go out and focus on things one game at a time.
