I could easily see the Habs trading for the top pick. Oilers would only move down 2 spots, get the guy they want in Murray, and pick up something of value in the process. - niteislander
I can see this before we make a trade for the pick |

Everyone seems to think he was mad at the fact he got hit but that wasnt it at all. Just after that brodure fumbled the puck which left the trapezoid. Brodure then played the puck which should have eneded up in a call that never came. It wasnt a good hit but much worse has been let go. There were 3 or 4 shots to the head in the flyers pens series one or 2 knocking grossman out for a few game and another the other night with alex ovi jumping and hitting the head first with no calls. - mace14
I never said he was mad about one particular thing over another, but the fact is they had a close up of him whining to the refs and playing chippy the entire shift, and then he goes and hits Zubrus blatantly late and in the head. If he kept his trap shut and just dealt with the missed call like an adult he probably would have gotten away with the hit on Zubrus. It was obvious that, while maybe his intent wasn't to hit Zubrus in the head and/or injure him, his intent was to take out his frustration on him, and it resulted in an illegal check.
I had no issue with Malkin on Grossman either. Close, but not suspension worthy. Take it for what you want, but I'm completely unbiased because, to be honest, I hate both the Penguins and the Flyers. |

No, not really considered high end prospects by anywhere that I read. Nelson has gotten some decent press. Nino you cannot consider a high end prospect after last year even though that was Capuano's and Snow's fault as far as I'm concerned. I like Cizikas but high end prospect at this point is not an accurate description. Anders Lee is not anhigh end prospect. Kabanov, I think you know enoguh I don't have to tell you he isn't. DeHaan is NOT a high end prospect, what has he done to say any differently. Poulin, OK, Maybe but debatable ? Mayfield, no. I like some of our prospects but I wouldn't consider any of them high end. When you say high end I'm thinking first line, maybe second line or first pairing MAYBE second pairing. Do you look at third line or third pairing Dmen and consider them High end? Not being sarcastic, serious question. - Cptmjl

Kabanov absolutely has top line potential. Mayfield absolutely has top pairing potential. deHaan may not have a "franchise d-man" ceiling, but I would consider his potential high-end, at the absolutely least..above average. |

To be fair that article is almost a year old. Doesn't take into account a single thing that happened since the beginning of all the seasons this year. Florida is ranked way too low on that list. |

Yeah, I know you think that. I'll say it again, I'm all for all rebuild. When you say rebuild it means you are rebuilding, right? What progress have you seen? Yeah, we have more prospects than when Milbag was GM but we have shat to show for it. To call Casey Cizikas and Kabanov or even DeHaan a high end prospect is a stretch. Just because we drafted DeHaan in the first round and much earlier than he was supposed to go doesn't mean he's a high end prospect. Mayfield, come on now? Seriously? You're going to call him a high end prospect. I want all these kids to be great players some day but high end? |

You heard it here first - once the sale is annouced, Phoenix starts losing. LA in the SC Finals.
Bettman's plan worked. Have Phoenix win until a sale is done. |

i saw the date after i posted it....having said that, lets say they drop 3-4 spots, its still pretty solid prospect pool... |

Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, I still think we still have a deep pool. I read through it a few times before I realized the date..I couldn't figure out why Florida was ranked so low. |

I actually think he's being realistic and you're overvaluing your prospects. High end prospects are guys projected to be like can't miss first line guys, like Huberdeau or Yakupov is right now. What you've got are a bunch of mid level prospects, guys who are projected to be 2nd-3rd line guys, but that's not saying they couldn't turn into top line guys if developed right. |

You sir are correct! Hey, I'm an Islanders fan. I want nothing more than for them to succeed. Calling DeHaan, Kabanov, and Mayfield top end prospects is not being realistic IMO. Could they be great players some day? Of course but as of now I would not call them a top line or end prospect. |

and yours is the most boring team to watch, having pioneered what some call the death of the game. Anyway, aren't you late for a tanning appointment somewhere? Gotta keep that NJ economy cranking, Gov. Christie's a hungry boy. |

I certainly hope they are, but I don't see them as impact players, not yet. Good potential, but not sure how they're seen around the league.
this rumor is garbage. If the Isles were targetting a big time UFA dman, they won't be able to sign him until July 1st unless they trade something for his rights. To say they're also going to trade for another defenseman to flip to Edmonton is just silly. They don't have enough offense to give up unless it's a prospect they want to move. To give up a good prospect to get a 4-5 defenseman to then flip him to the Oilers...how would that be anywhere near enough for edmonton to trade out of the #1 spot?
Just makes no sense. If the Isles do trade someone off their roster to swap picks with the Oilers, how does this entice a UFA defenseman to sign there when a number of them already turned them down? They need to add something of substance to their roster, not deal established players for unproven young talent.
The Oilers aren't going to drop spots if they don't get blown away by an offer, they're not picking 5th, it's 1st overall. Those picks very very rarely ever get moved.
Remember the package for Lindros? Even if this year's first is worth half that value the Isles can't afford to pay it. - Isles_since_6
Unless the Isles have a deal to go to Brooklyn before July 1 they will not be landing any top FA. They will be lucky if any of the top FA's even talk to them. |

I have to agree with you and Cptmjl. We have some good prospects. Guys that most likely will play in the NHL for many years. But aside from possibly Strome. I'm not seeing any "Show Stoppers" in this group. I'd love for us to trade up for Yakupov, and I think that we should, but I'd be content to take Dumba @ #4. He's got the potential to be something special IMO. More of a risk then Nail but he could be just what the Isles need. |
