I am fighting the temptation to go to the Caps thread and bash those guys that were bashing McDonagh for not blocking Greens shot in game 4 after watching that diver/faker Carlsson have the puck sneak through. Had one of them say to me that his adult league hockey team would have blocked that shot, boy oh boy, where are those guys? They trolled up a storm after their win on Saturday, nowhere to be found...pitty... |

Sick game, congrats to you guys! Devils Rangers conf finals should be awesome! - Cptmjl
Not there yet, still have to close this one out. The Flyers aren't dead yet either.
But if it is NY-NJ in the conference final, it should get silly. |

They are the same fans that still think Ovechkin is a top five player. Let it go, they don't know from which they speak. |

I know this is stating the obvious, but Brad Richards is building something special here. His great Game 6 in Ottawa, coupled with the Game winning feeding Game 3 against the Caps, and the knotting goal last night is really quite the trilogy of clutch moments.
It doesn't mean anything unless they finish this series off, but man, he was worth the money (even though his regular season numbers were below par for him). |

That fool Melrose still thinks the Caps will win the series based on 5 on 5 play, did we not dominate 5 on 5 last night, there's a reason that jagoff hasn't had a coaching job since the early 90's - HankdaTank
Yes we did, and for much of the series. Is this his most recent predecition? |

I think if the Rangers win Game 6 he would say the Caps would win if it were only a best of 9... |

It's funny but before he tied the game, I was annoyed at how many missed chances he and his line had. Don't get me wrong, they played well throughout but frustration was certainly setting in.
Still don't know how he got that puck through |

We were saying the same thing when Drury scored with 7.7...I can't remember who but I remember someone just missing the puck
Just watched it on youtube, it went through #46 who was none other than Dan Girardi and someone else...the parallels are scary |

Not sure if anyone saw this on Twitter last night, but very interesting comparing 2003-2004 to today:
@tsnjamesduthie 03-04 D.Sutter was hired by the flames in December. He led his underdog team to the Finals beating the #1,2, and 3 teams in the West. His team played the #1 seed in the East led by Torts and Brad Richards. 2011-12 same story, diff.teams RT?

That was the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
Words can't describe how awesome that feeling is, the late tying goal, then the Staal winner. Nobody ever say sh!t about Brad Richards again, how clutch is this man? |

Let's face it, with the matchups being so darn tight, you need a little luck to be successful in the playoffs, and the Rangers got some last night on the Richards goal. That puck had eyes. |

Just going from resignation with time running out, even Pierre Maguire had to correct himself bc he said the double minor wouldn't matter then he said unless the Rangers score but to go from despair to sudden exhiliration...in hockey time it was under 2 minutes that could have turned this series and who knows what this leads to down the road... |

No matter the sport or era or athletes, ALL championships need bounces...look at the Giants run, hail marys, fumbles on offense bouncing back up to them while jumping on just about every opponents fumble, droppoed INTs by SF dbacks, etc etc etc...you can find so many, I just hope against hope we close the door tomorrow night... |

IMO, the key to winning tomorrow night will be to survive the first period, and to stay out of the damn penalty box. I realize this analysis is very simplistic.

Cloutier is a clown, doesn't takw a shot at the rangers in his current blog but to call these playoffs a snore fest is laughable. They would be so much more exciting with that irrelevant once proud franchise he covers right? oye! |

Yep, expect a desperate surge by the Caps to start, as annual failures in the playoffs you have to wonder if they buckle...after the Drury game in 07, didnt we score first in Game 6? Then the avalanche of goals came against...memory isnt very good...
Edit: actually led 1-0 after one then scored 4 times in the 2nd, came back to make it 5-4, not sure you will see 9 goals in game 6 but expecting anything less than desperation by the Caps would be foolhearty |

Joel Ward's penalty might be the dumbest penalty I have ever seen in the NHL, at least top 3. Its the type of penalty you see in peewee. There is zero reason for his stick to be up that high, zero reason for him to turn the way he did and when you factor in how much time was left, factor in the situation at the time of the game and foctr in exactly what game it was... man oh man Joel. For a guy who fought his way into the NHL, played junior hockey the right way, to end up handing the game to the Rangers like that will put you in the top 5 worst ever mental mistakes in sport history. Unbelievable. Congrats to the Rags for making him pay but if I were a Capitals fan, and they lose this series, finger firmly planted at the moron who gave the game away. No excuses. |

Most people, and I am guilty of this as well, think low scoring games are not exciting.
Maybe he is judging the second round west matchups because the East has been exciting through the first two rounds.
This series has been well played, from both teams. Not a lot of cheap play and just tough, hard-nosed hockey.
Please end this tomorrow and in regulation, Rangers. Is this asking for too much? |

Cloutier's inane opinions come strictly from an anti-American oh my god they are taking our sport away point of view. Nothing more. |

Can't think of one championship team, in any sport, that didn't get a break or two along the way. |
